EPISODE FIVE
KYLE'S POV
It was a little saddening to leave the garden. You don't get to see a beautiful garden here on Earth, and I'm sad because of Mari. Don't get me wrong, I just feel she needs a companion, like a person of her kind to confide in, and I also wanted to tell her wonderful things about the world even if she won't get the chance to visit it.
Oh well, I suppose things are just meant to be this way. I need to locate my car, which I believe I parked across the street the day before. Let me just double-check. I crossed the street, and it turned out that my guess was correct after all.
"Hey buddy, did you miss me?" I said, tapping the car's hood. First and foremost, I need to contact my mechanic. I felt in my pocket for my phone but couldn't find it. s**t! I must have misplaced it yesterday. You red wolvey freaks are cursed!
I suppose I'll just have to find a phone line, but where can I do that? I think there is one nearby. I was about to leave in search of a phone line when I heard a tiny but familiar voice. Is it just me, or did it sound exactly like Mari's? I think I'm hearing things because I'm thinking about that garden.
"Hey! Kyle! Wait a minute!" I turned to make sure I didn't hear the voice wrong again. And there she was, in her enchanted beauty, waving at me. At the same time, I was delighted and taken aback.
"Mari!" I yelled as I dashed towards her. I arrived at her location, still perplexed.
"Hey, you walk too fast." She said this as she slammed her fist into my arm, her breath heavily.
"Sorry. But how exactly? Did you sneak out or cast a spell? What exactly are you doing here?" I inquired, still stunned.
"If that's your way of saying I'm glad to see you, then I'm glad to see you as well." She exclaimed, blowing dramatically. I ruffled her hair and chuckled at her antics. I'm not sure why, but ruffling her hair is oddly satisfying.
"Yeah, sure, but how?" I inquired, my browfurrowed.
"They gave me permission."
I looked at her for about three seconds before laughing. What the hell? They gave her permission my foot! I'm willing to bet a billion dollars that she wasn't permitted to come here. She most likely snuck out.
"They did, in fact." In between laughs, I said.
"Swears! They did. I was about to leave when you left, but they didn't. When I asked why, they said they were giving me permission to go but that I had to return before sunset." As she began to walk, she said.
"But does Novah know?" I inquired as I began to walk beside her.
"No, and he mustn't know." She stated
"Wow. I can't believe you've come all the way here." I stated, "Me, too. It's like a dream come true for me, and I'm going to make the most of it." She stated steadfastly.
"What are those?" She asked, pointing to a shoe show glass.
"Those are shoes." I said and she gave me "what?" Look
"Shoes. You wear them, they are meant for your feet." I explained and she hummed, nodding her head. I'm sure she didn't get anything I just said.
"Come on. Come try one." I said as I took her hands and we walked towards the store in which the show glass was.
"Hello ma'am." I greeted the ebony skinned, plump woman at the counter. She looked like she's in her mid forties.
"Good morning young man, what can I get for
you?" She asked with a smile
"Um. Some ladies' sneakers please." I said
"Sure, I'll be right back." She said this as she walked away to get the sneakers. I looked at Mari, who had all the men's attention.
Perverts who are good for nothing! Is this their first encounter with a lovely lady? One jerk even licked his lips. What a jackass! The way the men drooled was revolting. Wait a minute, someone is approaching Mari. Oh no you don't!
I quickly walked over to Mari and drew her along with me. I gave him my middle finger and he retorted with a scornful look.
"Here are some cute ones," the woman said, holding five pairs of shoes.
"Thank you," I said.
"Mari, sit on this," I said as I drew a stool close to her and made her sit on it. I sat in front of her on one.
"So, which one do you like?" I asked, pointing to the sneakers.
"That one." She smiled as she pointed to a white one with silver glitter on the sides and silver stones on the front and back. It was indeed lovely.
"Okay." As I lifted her right foot to my leg, she gave me a "what are you doing?" look.
"Relax," I said. I assisted her in putting on the sneakers, which fit her feet perfectly.
"So, how do you like it?" I inquired.
She stood up and looked down at the sneakers. the shoes really fits her and her outfit." She's dressed in a white off-shoulder gown with a white flair that ends at her knee. The sneakers added a lot to its beauty.
"Arghh!" She screamed, still staring at her feet, causing everyone to look in our direction, and I gave them a "what?" look. .
"I love them!" She squealed. "Where are my feet?" She continued to squeal.
"You've still got your feet, silly." I chuckled at her silly question.
"Really?" She inquired.
"Yeah," I said.
"Yay!" She squealed, twirled, clapped, and laughed like a two-year-old.
"How much do the shoes cost?" I inquired of the lady.
"$200" She responded, "Wait a minute, do I have any cash on me?" I felt around in my pocket for any sign of money and phew! I had money, but how much is it? I brought it out and it was exactly $200. Thank you, my forefathers..
I paid the woman the money and I asked if she could borrow me her phone.
"Yeah sure...here it is." She stretched her phone to me.
"Thanks." I said. I dailed my best friend, Cole's number. It rang for about ten seconds before he picked.
"Hey buddy!" He screamed, almost blocking my ear.
"Hey Cole."
"Watsup man? You didnt come back home yesterday."
"Yeah my car broke down so I had to sleep in the car."
"You should have called me."
"Liike you would have picked up." I said, rolling my eyes.
"True. Dude I screwed some hot asses yesterday." He said and I'm sure he's grinning right now
"I thought as much." I said
"Those girls really drained me. I'm f****d up man." He said as I chuckled .
"You're such a man whore."
"At least i don't waste my youthful days being loyal to some chic." he replied with savagery
"Screw you asshole. Anyways, come pick me up."
"Dude, I'm f*****g tired." He whined
"Get your shitty ass up and come pick me up."
"Fine dad." He said sarcastically.
"22 sss street. Thats the address...stop at the front of a shoe store."
"Okay be there in a sec"
"Yeah."
I ended the call and returned the phone to the woman, but not before thanking her. I returned my gaze to Mari, who was tapping her shoes and giggling like a child. She finds it extremely amusing. It's only a shoe.
*She lives in a goddamn forest dummy! * I rolled my eyes as my subconscious said this.
"You really like those shoes, don't you?" I asked as I took a seat next to her.
"Like them? I love them, they're so shiny and sparkly," she said, her smile wide.
"Well, I'm glad you like them," I said, pinching her cheeks.
"My friend is coming to pick us up," I said.
"Your friend?"
"Yeah"
"Pick us to where?" she inquired.
"My house," I said, and she hummed.
I was about to say something when I heard a car horn as loud as anything. The noise was so loud that everyone turned to look outside. Some were even cursing the individual.
I peered out the window to see who the lunatic was, and oh! My friend is the lunatic. I'm not even surprised.
"Hey, man!" He called out, his arms open for a hug.
"Are you crazy?" I asked, then proceeded to hug him, but instead punched his bicep.
"What the hell, dude?" In agony, he screamed. clutching his stomach
"For honking your horn like a lunatic." As I hugged him, I said.
"Why would you blow your horn so loudly?" I inquired, slightly jolting him.
"I don't know, it's entertaining." He shook his head.
"You're a crazy man." I scowled.
"You're a crazy idiot." He shot back.
"All right, let's get in the car." He said this as he slid into the driver's seat.
"Wait...someone there's there," I said.
"Who?" He inquired, but I had already returned to the store to retrieve Mari. Mari trailed behind me as I exited.
"That's my pal." I said this while pointing to Cole, who was standing by the car.
"Dude."
"Took you long enough." He said this as he turned to face us, and then, my friend stood stunned as he took off his sunglasses.
"Cole is a friend of mine, Mari. Mari this is Cole. Cole, this is Mari. I introduced them to each other.
"Hi." Mari said quietly, and Cole gulped, hard, if I may say so.
"Um...I'm Cole...h...his friend." Cole shook his head as he gulped hard again. I almost laughed out loud. Such a p*****t!
"i***t! I've told her your name." I said with a taunting smirk.
"I just assumed she didn't hear." He said this as he tried to regain his composure.
"I never said she was deaf." I couldn't take it any longer and burst out laughing. He gave me a glare, which made me laugh even harder.
"All you have to do is get in the car." He huffed loudly as he slid into the driver's seat, banging on the door.
I took Mari's hands in mine and went to open the passenger seat door. I wanted to enter with her, but she resisted. I tried again, but she remained hesitant.
"What's the matter?" I inquired.
"I don't want to be eaten." She was terrified as she said this.
"What?"
"That thing," she pointed to the car. "It ate your friend; I don't want to be eaten as well." She said frightfully. I looked at her and all I could do was to laugh. This girl is gonna be a lot of work.
