"You know, staring at her picture won't erase the fact that she beat your ass." "Don't f*****g play with me, Fred or I'll take out all of my anger on you." Redmond tossed Yvonne's picture in the fireplace and strolled to the bar. "Tell Joaquin to figure out her schedule for the afternoon." Red told Fred, who nodded. Red had a glass of whiskey and joined the others in the lounge. They were all present, aside from Daniel, who was making lunch. Red is yet to get over last night's event. Everything continued to replay in his mind. The more he kept to recalling, the more the desire to kill Yvonne overcame him. He loathes when his ego is hurt. Daniel before long joined them with a plate of drinks in his hand. "See, Lian's death is being announced already." Venessa pointed to the TV and they all turned to it's direction. It has been on since they assembled in the lounge however not a single one of them focused on it. "Great job, Daniel." Desmond commended cheerfully. "Your first mission and you accomplished it. Great job, dude." Fred tapped Daniel's back reassuringly. "That blogger is a dickhead, he really pointed my own weapon at me." Daniel snickered. "Really?" "Yes, boss. It was amused. I enjoyed his display but a mission is a mission." He kidded and they all laughed with the exception of Desmond who simply smiled and Red who had a stoic expression. He seldom smiles. "Well, Joaquin, how's it going?" Red inquired. "This chic is discreet. Maybe we should contact Albert?" Joaquin suggested. Albert is their source in the CCA central command. "Definitely... I think we should do that." Desmond concurred. "I can't help thinking about what the best method for killing her will be? Maybe you should seduce her?" Fred joked and Desmond chuckled. Venessa sent Fred a look which got him withdrawn right away. "I'll go put a call across Albert." Desmond said as he stood up, before heading to his room. "If you were given the chance to spend a night with that agent, I bet you won't come home again." Joaquin kidded and Red shook his head. Venessa rolled her eyes, "hush!" "You'll end up pouring out every damn secret." Daniel added. "Stay silent for once!" Venessa snapped. "Albert said the detective just left the quarter." Desmond announced as he walked down the stairs. "She won't be working in the quarter. Her office will be in her house for her safety as I was told." He added and settled down on the lounge chair. "OK, so what next?" Red inquire. "Kill her, obviously. We have her home number already." Venessa said. "I should go get prepared then." Red said, about standing up. "No too fast. I forgot to tell you you have a mission tonight and before that, you have someone to train." Desmond said. "Who?" "The new member." "For f**k's sake! Can't any other individual do that?" "It's an order, Red." Redmond groaned in dismay. "And where is this new member?" "He'll be here soon. You'll take down Yvonne tomorrow night and ensure she bites the dust." "Lunch is ready!" Daniel reported and Fred bounced up joyfully. Everybody shook their heads and looked as he ran towards the kitchen. "Such a foodie." Desmond said. "Glutton." Venessa teased and they all laughed. All with the exception of Red, of course. *** Once your opponent starts making a move, you pull the trigger immediately." Red instructed Jackson, the trainie, who nodded. Immediately they finished lunch, the trainie arrived so they started the training in the training room. Desmond announced out of nowhere that Jackson is following him on the mission tonight. And that's what Red doesn't like. He likes going solo. "Drop your gun, we're switching to hand-to-hand combat." Red said and Jack dropped his weapon. Red tightened his fist and made to hit him but he quickly bent, dodging the punch in the process. "Great." Red lauded but didn't allow him to finish raising up his head before sending an uppercut. He groaned and fell on the cold floor. "You should not let your guard down. No matter the situation!" Red fired. He raised up his leg to send a few kicks to Jack's stomach but he rolled away, standing up very quickly. He made to hit Red but he dodged and entwined his legs. Jack fell flat and Red sent a few light punches to his stomach. Red is trying to make his blows light on him. He went through more than this during his training. Desmond never took it easy with him and that's the reason he's this good. Though he was originally trained in mixed martial arts by his father before he died. "Get up, Jack. You really want to battle me like you're fighting your opponent. I'm not in for your weakness." Red said and dragged Jack up. Jack snatched Red's hand and hit him hard. "Good!" Red was about returning the hit when Jack dodged and made to kick him in the stomach. However, Red was quicker. He got Jack's leg midway and utilized it to hammer his back on the ground. "Way to go, Jack" Red commented sarcastically groaning Jack. Red allowed him to regain his composure. Jack threw a punch yet he was slow once more. Red got it midway and elbowed his stomach. "Ahh!" He winced. "This is the time you use your elbow." Red said and Jack did. He hit Red with his elbow but Red didn't feel it by any means. Their training proceeded for about an hour before it came to an end. They are both on the ground, catching their breaths. "How did you become so good, sir?" Red laughed. "Sir? Call me Red." "O..ok. Red." Jack said bashfully. "Well, my dad trained me, boss trained me and most importantly, I practiced. I trained myself." "I envy you a lot. You seem to know everything." Red smirked. "Thanks for the compliment, I guess. I'll do my best to train you but you need to practice personally." "I will. I want to make you proud. I want to be boss's favourite too." Jack said Red laughed generously. He found Jack's remark funny. "How does being the favorite feel?" Jack inquired. "Who's favourite?" "Boss's favourite." "I'm far from that, Jack." "But you are. It's evident boss likes you most." He said and Red shrugged. "Boss doesn't have a favorite, kiddo." Red stood up and helped Jack up. The two of them left the training room. "Go wash up and prepare for the mission." "Yes, sir." Jack saluted and walked away. "Silly kid." In a way, Jack reminded Red of his younger brother. *** " I trained you on climbing walls right?" Red asked Jack as he parked in front of the building they are to assassinate. "Yeah, you did but I'm afraid I'm not too good at it." He replied. "You better not mess up this mission, boy." Red warned. "I'll do my best." "Put on your mask and tuck your pistol in your coat." Red said and he did so. He didn't wear a wig but Red did. Red is putting on a silver wig this time. They both stepped out of the car and hurried to the side of the building where they began climbing. They were progressing until Jack screamed. He nearly fell and Red couldn't help but swear under his breath. "Com'on boy!" Red yelled in a whisper. "I'm sorry." He whispered back and they resumed climbing. "Don't make any sound as you jump." Red did a hand sign to Jack as they got near the verandah. "Okay." He signed back. They both jumped gently inside the verandah. They got into their victims house successfully. *** "f*****g shook him, jack!" Red fired at Jack, who was shaking, pointing the gun in his grasp pitifully to the two people who were on the kitchen floor. The people they were ordered kill. "I'll do all you request that I do, please, spare my life." one of the guys begged fearfully. "Jack pull the f*****g trigger! com'on! You're pissing me off!" Red said through gritted teeth, sending a flying kick to the next person who was attempting to make a move. Red shoved jack to the side and sent bullets through the men's head. He sent a lethal glare to Jack, who was all the while shuddering. "Take your eyes off the dead people and let's get the hell outta here." |*|*|*|*|*|*| Red and Jack strolled to the patio in silence. Actually, Red is stumping while Jack is trailing behind him in fear. Red is fuming inside. He is really infuriated. "So how was it?" Venessa asked as the two people came in. "You!" Red terminated at Jackson. Jack recoiled in dread. "Don't! Don't you ever come with me again!" "I'm...I'm sorry. I..." "Forget it!" Red terminated as he used the stairwell. Venessa hurried after him. "What happened?" Fred asked Jack who started crying uncontrollably. "There there." Fred pulled Jack close. He started to pat his back soothingly. |•THE NEXT DAY•| Alex and Yvonne remained in the compound, having a babble. Yvonne was educating him concerning New York and he was filling her in with regards to Chicago. Alex is fun to be with and Yvonne is very happy she have such wise and joyful individual as a gatekeeper. "I still can't get over that night." Alex shuddered and Yvonne snickered. "It must have been quite terrifying for you, right?" "Yes! I mean, I went to open the gate for a visitor and I came face-to-face with Chicago's number one infamous assassin. I nearly peed my pants. Scratch that, I peed my pants." Yvonne laughed at Alex's funny articulation. "I can't help thinking about how you're not stirred up. Wasn't it scary?" "Naah. I realized he was coming so I was ready. I've studied on loads of cases like this so I knew he wasn't visiting me to kill me. We just had a little talk." "Yeah, I surmise he talked all around your face." Alex commented mockingly. Yvonne touched her bandaged head and hurled a sigh. "This isn't anything compared with the injuries I've had in the past." "The next time this happens, please, report to the HQ." "OK, Alex." Yvonne smiled. The breeze is gentle and friendly against Yvonne's skin she heaved a satisfactory sigh. "I'm beginning to miss New York." Yvonne said sadly and Alex smiled. "I know how that feels. Missing home." "It's getting late. I gotta go prepare dinner, even though I have no clue about what to cook." "You don't have groceries?" "I do but um..." Yvonne cleared her throat. "I don't..." "You don't know how to cook." "Yeah." Yvonne admitted shyly. "I can prepare you dinner, if you want." Yvonne's face illuminated, "really?" "Yeah. Assuming that you let me." "Are you kidding me? Yes, please! Come on! " Alex arranged supper for him and Yvonne. The two of them ate in Yvonne's dinning. "Thanks for the food, Alex." "The pleasure is all mine, Agent Yvonne. I'll be on my way now." "Hm. Goodnight." With one final wave, Yvonne shut the door. She yawned noisily as she stretched. Yvonne looked around the living room. Everywhere looks empty with just her in. Albert called her this evening to enlighten her about the employed housekeeper. The HQ found her a housekeeper who is set to resume soon. Yvonne got to her room and pulled the door open. A feeling washed over her as she looked to left, just to see the window totally open. She perceived a familiar fragrance and afterward she realized what was wrong. The person is near. The assassin! And she knew promptly that this time, he isn't hanging around for a discussion. The real deal is tonight.
