Death was so near but Elene still tried to dodge the sharp shadow blades aimed directly at her. Every muscle in her body was tensed as she tried to free herself while they approached, cruel and inevitable.
“No!” A guttural scream left her chest. She wasn’t ready to give up. Whatever it took, she wanted to keep fighting.
It was too late, though, and the shadows reached her anyway. She closed her eyes before the impact. However, there was no stabbing or piercing. Instead, the deadly weapons hit her face like soft steam, caressing and gentle, obeying her every wish.
