Season 4. Epilogue

My phone rang, and I lazily popped another chip into my mouth before leaning over to pick it up. "Hey, Robert speaking." "Hi, I had a last-minute family emergency, and I need a replacement for my shift. Can you cover for me?" It was my day off, but he was a friend. "Sure. I'll get ready to leave shortly." We hung up, and true to my word, I was ready and out the door, reaching work in time to take over the next shift as soon as the previous guard got up to leave. I sat and pulled the remaining files to the edge of the desk as I began flipping through the first one. A deflowering. A reoccurring memory from years ago flickered. However, this girl was Trena, freshly 18. Few restrictions. She entered, shy but eager. She waited and so did I– waiting to see who she'd be paired with. Then the door opened. Bradley. Strong and built like an ox. I was on full alert. I knew him. At times he could get a little carried away, go a little overboard, and sometimes become a little too.... rough. That was his way. I was on heightened standby should my intervention be necessary. But she never needed me, and in the end, she left, wobbling, with smudged eyeliner and tears of satisfaction staining her cheeks. She liked it, and that was all that mattered. I settled, relieved, and each session progressed similarly– each new client or returning client leaving thoroughly stated. Now, I was down to the last file, and my eyes instantly widened in shock. These two. I was pleasantly surprised as I read the names I could never forget. These two had certainly left an indelible impression on me. After all, it wasn't every day in this club that romance bloomed. These two met a few years back when Leah had freshly turned eighteen and decided to get her V-card revoked. She happened to be paired with Troy, an older guy who was way more experienced, but he was also kind and gentle– the perfect fit for the job. Then they met twice after that first time, the last one ending at her place. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall. They never came back, and ever so often, they'd cross my mind, and I'd wonder what became of them. Did it ever become anything more than just casual s*x? Did they become a couple? Were they still together? I guess the universe decided to put my wondering at ease because now, I was staring at their names. I was curious to see how their dynamics had evolved over the years. Excitement bubbled in my loins, I was beyond ready, and shortly after, the door opened again. I did a double take, the woman who entered bore little resemblance to the shy Leah who had walked in here some six years ago. Wow had it really been that long already? I had to do a quick mathematical check. Yup, six years already. If I hadn’t recognized their names, I probably wouldn’t have recognized her. She had certainly filled out in the last six years in all the right places. The shy, naïve girl seemed long gone, and an air of confidence exuded from her mere presence. Her hair was braided yet pulled into a low ponytail. She looked business-like, professional, and all grown up– no longer just a girl, she was a woman. She walked in and looked around the room, smiling at the familiarity, probably reminiscing. Not much had changed in the room, save for the wall paint. It was still decorated like a nice hotel room with a big bed and a couch to the side. She ran her fingers along the bed, smiling– maybe at a memory– And then the door opened again, and Troy walked in. Leah grinned at him, and Troy snorted out a laugh, shaking his head. Wow! Troy had surprisingly gotten toned, filling out his shirt nicely. Clearly, he was hitting the gym. His hair now had a few streaks of gray, but he still possessed those kind eyes and a warm smile. “I couldn’t believe it when I got your message,” Troy said. Then his eyes narrowed. “Leah, babe, what... what are we doing here?” So he wasn't aware of what was happening? “I missed you,” Leah said quietly. “Missed me? But you saw me this morning.” “Yeah, for like two minutes before I had to rush out of the house and head to work,” Leah murmured, walking over to him. She placed her hand against his chest. “I know I’ve been crazy busy with work lately...” “I know” Troy nodded. “But I understand. You're passionate about your job, and I love that about you. You have cases, and clients, and deadlines– They are your priorities” “But so are you." Leah smiled, stepping closer. "I don’t want you to ever think you’re not important to me.” “I know that, and I’ve never once questioned my importance to you.” Troy replied genuinely, lifting Leah’s chin for a sweet kiss before he looked around the room. “So you booked us a room here?” “Where it all began,” Leah said wistfully. “Do you remember that first time? My first time?” Troy grunted, low in his throat. “How could I forget it? I told you I wasn't good at relationships, and I wasn’t even sure I believed in love at all, let alone at first sight... until I met you.” He sighed as he studied Leah’s face. “I was a goner from that first time. One time with you and I was done for. Though the second time cemented it for me.” “And then on the third, you came to my place,” Leah said with a laugh. “And you didn't hold back. After that, I just knew you were it for me. My friends thought I’d lost my gaddamn mind. They thought I had become a cradle-rocker.” Leah snorted. “But now they all love me.” “They do, and so do I,” Troy smiled, playfully pinching her cheek. "Of course you do. How could you not? Just look at me." Leah stepped back dramatically, using her hands in an exaggerated manner to curve her voluptuous shape. And that's when I spotted it, glistening under the light and casting a faint disco glow against the wall. A ring. He laughed. “You're so extra. But you can't deny I also made you swoon like an anime character and made your heart go all crazy." "Maybe not right away, but you did eventually when—” “I took that long drive with you to your family's house for Christmas, and I memorized everyone's names and got them all presents—” “Which you didn't have to.” “Of course I did. You were already unofficially my official girlfriend... you just didn't know it yet.” Leah couldn't help blushing “Well, now it's official. I got struck by that crazy-fast and consuming thing called love, and now here we are, much more than boyfriend and girlfriend....” "More than fiance and fiancée." Leah smiled. "I'm your wife and you– my husband." Troy pulled her in. "And I guess we'll go to our graves with the secret of where we first met." "Definitely." Leah burst out laughing. “No one ever has to know.” Troy chuckled, kissing Leah softly. “I can’t believe you booked this place for us.” “Well,” Leah hedged. “I thought we could do with a trip down memory lane. Maybe make it an anniversary tradition. Rent a room and let any fantasy we have come to life. Make it 'us' time.” Troy grinned. “You know, we could do this at home.” It still seemed so strange to think that a mere hook-up ended in marriage. Six years later, and they were still together, living together, married, and clearly, still very much in love with a place to call home. “But we wouldn’t,” Leah sighed. “Things would come up like they always do. Work, appointments, meetings, family things... But if we keep this appointment, this would be our time.” Troy stared at her, realizing how serious she felt about the matter. “Babe, are you okay?” He took Leah’s hand. “Are we okay?” Leah chuckled. “We are more than okay. I love you more now than the day I said 'I do'. I love the life we've built together and all that we have. But I know time together is scarce these days, and I know that you used to come here before we met.” Troy nodded. “For uncomplicated s*x–.” “And excitement, and to have your needs met,” Leah furthered. “And I don’t want you to..." she sighed. "I work a lot, and I don’t want you to feel like you’re missing out or not having your needs met." “Leah, baby,” Troy said quietly, sliding his hand along her cheek. “Look at me. My needs are met, every single one of them. More than I ever knew possible. You keep saying you work a lot, but babe, so do I. We knew this before we agreed to spend our lives together. There’s nothing I need in my life more than what I already have.” “Nothing?” “Absolutely nothing.” Leah nodded to the bed. “Not even railing me on this bed right now?” Troy laughed. “Well . . . You know I’d never say no to that.”
