Mason POV
I page through the file as Benedict drives. My anger has turned into determination, and I have only one goal – to find and humiliate Carina the way she did me. I know all the warnings and cliches that this is a path of destruction, but I do not care. She made me care for her, and I am nobody’s fool.
However, there are moments when my anger alternates with sadness. I miss her and I am worried out of my mind. I do not care what the report says, there are still kidnappers out there and it is impossible for Carina and her mother to simply vanish.
“What did you find at her mother’s house?” I frown. “I don’t see anything in the report.”
“Nothing out of order,” he replies. “The same as Carina. All her stuff is still there. There’s a guard but nobody has come home or visited.”
