Mason POV
Relaxed, I lean my head back against the headrest as Benedict and I drive to Erica’s house. After a lengthy conversation with Dad, I know I made the right choice – Carina.
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would agree with him on this, but he is right. Carina is the better choice for me, and the pack. It is easier to lead a pack when you are not consumed by your mate.
Erica is sick, and I might neglect the pack and the business to take care of her. Rejecting Erica will hurt, but it will pass.
I notice Erica in the garden, planting flowers when we park in front of her house. Damn, I groan inwardly. She is still gorgeous, and I briefly reconsider if I am doing the right thing.
“Hey, stranger,” she greets me as I walk to her. “This is a surprise.”
