Chapter 52: Surrounded

I slept deeply and peacefully, wrapped up in King Sterling’s arms. I had no more nightmares, just uninterrupted dreamless sleep. I was so warm and comfortable that when I awoke, it took me a few minutes to realise that Sterling was not in the bed with me. I hadn’t even opened my eyes yet but I could feel his absence. I could sense it somehow. I pulled the blanket over my head and grabbed the nearest pillow, hugging it to my chest.
I can sense it, corrected my wolf, taking credit. I know when his alpha wolf isn’t around.
The presence of my wolf was a relatively new thing in my life. I wasn’t sure if it was normal to find your inner wolf slightly annoying.
Well, excuse me! Snapped my wolf.
I sighed inwardly.
