A trumpet, saxophone, and trombone battled for dominance throughout the small space that made up this illicit club of gambling and drinking-at a time when both were highly illegal. But for Paolo and Serena, they did not pay much of a mind to the music or even those around them who looked to the newcomers with intrigue and speculation.
