Chapter eleven - The quest for answers

1451 Words
Katrina All the gate ways in this world close instantly, at least that's what I thought. But slowly, I start to draw back from the darkness I found myself into earlier, fading away slowly. Gently, I try to open my eyes but they seem to be sealed by some unknown forces. I try for like a million times but to no avail. That's it, I'm really dead. I try to calm myself down and gently, I roll back into the darkness I just came back from. "Katrina, Katrina, wake up" I hear a strange voice whispering. I gently rise up from my laying position and sit down.  "What is this?" I ask no one in particular because when I open my eyes, nobody was there. I'm dressed in an elegant white dress as if I'm about to get married.  "Where is this place?" I ask again because I have never seen this place in my whole entire life.  Wait a minute. This is definitely what they call heaven. I quickly stand up to see if it's true that I'm really in heaven. The place is entirely white, no mixed colours at all.  "Hello, anybody here?" I call out but nobody answer.  "Hello!" I call out again.  I keep walking till I reach a passage. It is divided into two so I don't know which one to follow. I just decide to follow the right one. The passage is filled with mirror all over. I turn left to have a look at myself because I know the last time I spent on earth, I look like garbage. To my biggest surprise, I look entirely opposite of what I thought I would look like. I'm dressed in a long white dress and I'm as clean as a running water and wait a minute, I reach over to my head and I can't believe what I'm seeing, it's a tiara. A Tiara? Am I some sort of princess here or something. That's it, I'm definitely dead. My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to at least meet my parents and let them know that I was OK all this time. And star light, Oh star light! She's going to be all alone again. I kneel down because my legs are getting weak. I want to cry but no tear is ready to come out. I feel like somebody is watching me from behind but when I turn, nobody is there.  "Who's there?" I ask.  "I said who's there?" I ask again but still no answer.  "Show yourself" I demand.  A figure walk out from one of the mirrors in the corridor. I start walking backwards, away from the figure. ########## Adrien "Welcome back Sir" the pack's doctor says as he noticed that my eyes are open.  I just nod my head because I don't have the strength to talk right now. I try to get up but he stops me.  "No Sir, you should get some rest, you are pretty weak as it is" he says.  Me! Weak! This is a word that doesn't exist in my vocabulary. I growl at him.  "I'm sorry my Alpha, please spare me, that's not what I meant" he apologizes respectfully with his head bowed down.  I motion him with my hand to stand up and he did.  "Wh...what happened?" I force the words out of my mouth.  "My Alpha, we found you unconscious in the woods" he answers.  "We thought you were ambushed but when we checked, there was no sign of any struggles or fight in you're body" he pauses.  "After I have examined you Sir, I seemed like you collapsed because of exhaustion and stress" he adds.  "You need to take some rest" he says and bows his head.  I nod my head and gesture for him to leave me alone. I can't even use the mind link to communicate with him, my head is crowded as it is. What is really wrong with me. I've dealt with many more dangers and crisis more than the one were in. I just blacked out like a defeated baby. I sit up because I'm not a person that is kin of laying down doing nothing. I mind link my second in command and tell him to meet me immediately. In less that ten minutes, he walks into the room. I motion for him to come close to me. I keep quite for a while because both me and my companions despise what I'm gonna say right now.  "Umm I want you to take care of the pack in my absence" I say.  I turn my head the other side, I don't want to meet his eyes.  "You are my Beta now, tell all the other pack members, I'll make it official as soon as I come back from my trip" I say.  "Forgive me Sir, but can I ask where you are going?" he asks.  "Finding answers" I blurt out.  "Answers, what answers?" my beast asks.  I just ignore him.  "OK Sir, I'll summon the guards to escort you" he says.  "No I'm going alone" I say.  "Forgive me My Alpha but I can't let you go anywhere alone like this" he insists.  If I keep refusing him we'll just be dragging things.  "OK, but summon only two of our finest" I say.  "Yes Sir" he answers.  "I'll be leaving in two days" I say.  "You can leave now" I add.  I can hear him closing the door but I didn't turn to look at him.  "And don't let my sister know that I'm leaving, please take care of her" I mind link him.  "I will Sir" he says. ########## Katrina I keep walking backwards till I reach the end of a wall. I'm caged up between the wall and that figure. It's a figure I presume, it's body is covered in a cloak from head to down.  "Please don't hurt me" I beg.  It reaches out and remove the thing covering her head. A gorgeous woman appears which is not what I expect to see.  "Who are you?" I ask.  "Oh where are my manners" she says and her voice sounds so familiar.  "I'm the guardian of this castle, I'm Queen Alanora but you can just call me Alanora" she says and smiles.  Her voice sounds soothing but I wouldn't give her a chance to deceive me. They also do that in heaven I guess.  "Where is this place?" I ask.  "Oh this is home" she says.  "Home?" I say confusedly.  "You don't remember this place?" she asks.  "No, I don't think I have been to this place in my lifetime" I answer.  She looks at me with her sad eyes as if she is disappointed or something.  "Ah! You haven't told me your name" she says.  "Sorry ma'am, my name is Katrina" I say.  "What a nice name" she says.  I smile and nod my head at her. I want to ask many questions but I wouldn't dare. She seems so comforting, familiar and all but I'm not sure if I could trust her.  "Would you want a tour of the castle?" she asks.  So that is what they call heaven here, castle, it seems so human like.  "Yes, I guess" I say the latter part in a whisper.  "OK this way" she says and leads the way.  We walk out of the mirror corridor and into a huge sitting area.  "This is where we receive our guests" she says.  "Ah!!!" I exclaim and nod my head.  We walk all over the ground floor and she showed me almost every nook and cranny. We walk over to the first floor.  "This is my throne room and someday..." she stops mid sentence.  Someday what?, I ask myself.  What amazes me is that there is nobody apart from us.  "Where is everybody?" I ask.  "Ah! I gave them a day off so that you..." she stops again and I know better than to push an angel, as I have already presumed she is, or else I'll end up in hell.  "Let's go to the garden, someone's waiting for you" she says and drags my hand out to the garden.  It was the same place that I found myself when I first woke up.  "Now it's time for you to go back, they've been waiting for soon long" she says as she releases my hand.  "Who?" I ask.  "Your people" she answers.  "My who?" I ask confusedly.  "They have been waiting for five days for you to wake up already so go back to them" she says.  "But I'm already dead, how can I go back to them" I say.  "No dear, you are very much alive, now go back and be careful" she says and places her hand on my forehead.  Even her touch feels so familiar.  "I thought I'm in heaven" I say.  "No dear, this is not even close to the heaven" she says.  "Then what is it?" I ask.  "This is home" she answers just like earlier.  Before I could even say something, a mist comes out of nowhere and separates the two of us. All the pain in this world starts to descend all over me and it feels so real.
