Time slows down as the fighting continues around me. Panic and fear propel my body forward as I run towards Eric, mentally counting down the remaining seconds until my vampire explodes into ash, never to be whole again. I blink back the tears threatening to escape the corners of my eyes at the thought of losing Eric so soon…we only just found each other. Then again, my life hasn’t ever been fair.
I fall to my knees, sliding on the dirty floor before stopping in front of Eric. He’s still kneeling on the ground clutching the shaft of the silver tipped arrow protruding from his chest…two inches from his heart. We were lucky Azula’s aim is off tonight. Relief begins to replace my fear and panic. I drop Charlize on the ground beside us and focus on the arrow when Eric lifts his head
