Gina woke up to the sounds of the chirping birds. She looked away from the penetrating sun coming in through the open blinds. Last night's incidence replayed in her head. Bitter tears trailed down her face as she cried silently. She sat up and hugged herself tightly. Her fingers gripped her hair as the sickening whisper of the perpetrator echoed in her head. They didn't tell me this would happen. I wasn't told this would happen.
She wailed.
Her head was buried in-between her curled up legs. A maid came in but Gina kept her head bowed.
"Your highness? Your highness?"
"Please...I want to be alone." Gina sniffed. Daphne noticed this and moved closer to her.
"I'm the personal maid assigned to you, your highness. My name is Daphne. Your highness....if I may, can I sit beside you?"
