Lia awoke to the sound of monitors beeping around her. As her eyes began to adjust to the light and coming off of the cocktail of medications they had placed her on, she could see her mother looking at her with tears in her eyes.
“Mom?” She asked aloud as her mother nodded. She took her daughter into a careful embrace, not wanting to cause pain to her, as she clung onto her for a long period of time.
“Baron called me...What happened?” Lia looked around before answering as she saw Cameron in the bed beside her. He had been laying without a shirt but was wrapped with gauze and covering as he was recently stitched up.
“Mom, there’s something I need to tell you…”
“Okay…”
