Jack I watched her, the dim light of the bar casting shadows across her face as she took another long sip from the glass. Her eyes were distant, glazed over, lost in a dark, unreachable corner of her mind. The Gambino men had finally backed off, but Samantha… she was drowning, in her own pain. The weight of everything she'd seen, the betrayal she felt—it was pulling her under.
