Agatha informed us about the talismans the warlock placed on the elder's home. That will make anyone inside get weaker. She was supposed to put a potion on them but the warlock helped himself. He knew that she would betray him sooner or later.
She wouldn't if he didn't r**e her and tried to do it again. But the warlock seems like he can no longer hold his urges. That's why he makes sure to also have his own plans in motion. He wanted to control the island for himself.
