“She’s still in town,” Cal told Jessica as he sat down beside her. “Duh!” Jessica didn’t even look up from her small laptop. He could see that she was updating the town website that she’d built half a year ago and been expanding ever since. Greg was waiting expectantly, “The Usual” already written on an order slip. Cal was half tempted to order an omelette just to screw him up, but that would mean messing with the Judge as well. Finally he just nodded, “Do it.” Greg hung and spun the slip, but rather than simply setting the plate on the ledge, the Judge was watching him carefully. When Cal nodded it was okay, the Judge slid across the tall stack and pulled the ticket. Greg served it across and set the butter and warm maple syrup by his plate bearing bacon and the inevitable hash browns
