Skylar's POV:
It was no longer a sense of familiarity that Chris and I gazed at each other with now. It was no longer the sense of betrayal either.
The feeling of the two of us being pure strangers was clearly evident not only in the intensity of our stares but in the air as well.
It was many seconds later until I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding in the first place. My breath seemed to hitch each time I breathed in yet my lungs were burning for more and more air though all I was doing was standing still.
My thoughts were spiraling and no longer could I think straight.
"How come I never knew about this?" Chris muttered in Kirk's direction without breaking our gaze.
