Chapter 18: Mafia Princess

1744 Words
Niky I looked up when I heard yelling. The girl at the register looked at me in exasperation, and I c****d an eyebrow at her. That girl happened to be Vanessa Ramirez, Mafia Princess. I had been her bodyguard for the last ten months. When she waved me over I sighed. I got up and walked to her. “What do you need Nessa?” “This i***t keeps telling me that my card is declining.” Vanessa hissed. The boy behind the resister was actually shaking. With fear. “I-I’m sorry.” He stammered out. I ignored him. “Which card are you using?” She showed me her Black card. “This one duh.” Just then her phone went off. She quickly looked at it and then sighed. “Apparently Daddy blocked it.” “I see.” I nodded. “Then don’t you have something to say to this young man.” Vanessa glared at me for a second before she sighed. “I’m sorry. It’s not your fault and I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.” “Th-Thank you.” The boy nodded. “Use this.” I said as I handed him my own black card. “After we are done here we need to head back to the house. You have homework.” The kid quickly rang us up. We grabbed all the bags and went to the car. I looked over at Vanessa while I was driving. She was young, only seventeen years old. Her Mom passed when she was young, and her father worked all the time. Flashback I was walking down the street, lost in my own world. It’s been three weeks since Justin, Dylan, and I broke out and split up. I don’t know how exactly, but I ended up in New York City. At the moment I was headed back to my hotel. Suddenly the hair on the back of my neck stood up as I heard a blood curdling scream. As far as I could see I was the only one around, but the sound came from a nearby alley. I rushed over just in time to see a young woman being thrown into the back of a black van. She screamed again, but even my super speed couldn’t help me catch up as the van peeled out of there. I could have stopped and called 911, but something told me I needed to help this girl now. So, I pulled my wings and took to the air. It took me a minute, but I found the van. I didn’t want to stop the van and hurt the girl, so I followed them all the way to their hideout. I watched as they dragged her out of the van and into the house. She had a bag over her head and her hands were tied, but as far as I could see they didn’t touch her. I focused my ears on the conversation. “Did you make the call?” A man asked as he left the house. “Yes. He knows we have his daughter, and he knows our demands.” The man dragging the girl responded. “The rendezvous is set for tomorrow night.” “Good.” All of them entered the house and I felt my blood boil. After everything I had gone through, I wasn’t going to let another girl suffer like I did. I kept my ears pricked, and waited until the sun went down, then I pulled on of my daggers and used a cloaking spell before silently slipping into the house. There were four men. Two of them in the living room, one in the kitchen, and one guarding the girl. Storm and Silver perked up when we saw the first two men. “Demons.” Storm hissed. “I know.” I snarled. I had no qualms about killing these men. I snuck up to both men and sliced the first ones throat. The second man jumped up with a yell and I threw my dagger nailing him in the heart. The third man ran in from the kitchen. “How?” He gasped. “We thought you were dead.” “Never.” I snarled. “Tell Bastian I said hi.” He launched himself at me. I dodged spinning around him. I punched him in the spine making him crumple. I quickly killed him. I heard movement upstairs and a muffled scream. I ran up and slammed my foot into the door where they were keeping the girl. Her eyes were wide with fear. The fourth man had a knife to her throat. “Come any closer Trybrid and I’ll kill her.” He snapped at me. “Let the girl go.” My voice was low and deadly. I felt my fangs elongate, my wings appeared, my feline ears and claws. I was in full Trybrid mode. The girl wiggled helplessly. The demon pressed the blade into her throat, and I watched as a drop of blood trailed down her neck. “Leave!” The demon yelled. “No!” With that I disappeared and reappeared behind him. I twisted his arm backwards until it snapped, and then I pulled his head back before slicing his throat. He dropped to the floor, and so did the girl. She was gasping for breath. I moved to help her, and she screamed. “It’s okay.” I whispered. “I am not going to hurt you.” She shook her head. “What the hell are you?” I sighed and forced myself back into my human form. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you. It’s just those men pissed me off. What gives them the right to kidnap anyone.” The girl stared at me for a moment, then started laughing. “Okay that’s it I’m losing it.” “No.” I smirked. “Come one let’s get you home.” She nodded and stood up. “What’s your name?” “Niky.” I smiled softly. “You?” “Vanessa.” “Well Vanessa what’s your address.” End Flashback After she told me her address. I got her out of the house before setting it on fire. Then I teleported her home. Her father was so grateful that he hired me as her personal bodyguard. She kept my secret too. In the time that I’ve worked with her, I’ve taught her self-defense, taken her shopping, helped with homework, and been a parental figure. Her father paid me really well for it to. He also made me the head of his security. I never thought that I would be cut out for this line of work, but I loved it. “I’ll make sure Daddy pays you back for that.” Vaness told me. “Don’t worry about it.” I laughed as we pulled into the garage. It was close to five in the afternoon, when I got a call from the security guards outside. “Ma’am there is someone outside for you.” “I’ll be out in a moment.” I headed for the door and Vanessa followed. “You should stay here.” “No way.” She laughed. “You never get visitors and I’m curious.” I shook my head but led the way out. A man was leaning against one of the pillars. “Oh my god who is that?” Vanessa fanned herself and I shook my head again. The man stepped out of the shadows, and I froze midstep. “Hey Niky.” The man grinned at me. “Dylan?” I gasped. Without thinking I ran to him, throwing my arms around him. He held me tightly for longer than necessary, but I didn’t care. “How?” “Justin helped track you down.” Dylan grinned as he pulled back. “Speaking of Justin he should be here any moment.” Just then Justin appeared about ten feet away. Vanessa pretended like she was going to faint. “Damn these two are hot.” Dylan threw his head back laughing, but I was focused on him. The man that held my heart. Golden brown eyes locked on icy blue ones, and then I was running. I didn’t see Vanessa’s Dad arrive as I threw myself at my husband. Vanessa screeched in shock as Justin caught me. Tears were streaming down my face as I pulled him into a kiss. It was desperate and messy, but I didn’t care. When we finally broke away he had tears in his eyes as well. “What the hell is going on here?” Marco Ramirez yelled. I jumped and turned. Vanessa’s mouth was open in shock. “Maybe we should talk inside.” Justin told him. “Hello sir my name is Justin Ohmsford, and this is my brother Dylan.” “Brothers!” Vanessa sighed dreamily and I rolled my eyes. “Ohmsford?” Marco looked at me. “Yes, this is my husband.” I nodded. “Damn girl you are lucky.” Vanessa fake whined, and her Dad shot her a glare. “Fine come in.” Marco nodded. “I feel that we have a lot to discuss.” Once we were settled into Marco’s office. Marco began talking. “I wondered when you would show up.” Marco sighed. “What?” I asked. “I know who you are Princess.” Marco sighed. “I knew the minute I saw you bring my daughter home safe and sound, but I also realized that you were hiding. So, I figured the best way to help keep you safe was to hire you.” “Damn.” Dylan laughed. “Seems like Nik got the better end of the deal here.” “Thank you for protecting my wife.” Justin told him. “So,” Vanessa whistled. “You knew that she was a Princess in the supernatural world. How?” “Because I’m a vampire.” Marco told his daughter. “I mask it, so others won’t know.” “Smart.” I nodded. “So, what now?” Dylan asked. “I don’t know about you, but I am ready to be home.” “Home.” Vanessa looked crestfallen. “Are you sure?” I asked Justin, and he nodded. “it’s time to go home.”
