Chapter 20

1021 Words
The last thing I remembered was visiting my home back in Forks Washington and then I was disappearing. "Wake up!" I heard someone yell. I quickly opened my eyes and saw to my own dispair Rome standing above me. I sat up and looked around before realising where I was and what I had done. I rose to my feet and bowed before him as all the wives do in the coven. "Yes dear." I said, trying to feign the part of loving wife. "Aro wants to see you." He replied. I nodded my head and pressed my lips to his once before I rushed from the room. Aro was normally on his throne unless he was eating, still even then most days he would have his 'meals' brought to him. Heading from the room I took my time in the hall to get there to allow myself to wonder what he could want. Only when I entered did I realise that my time for thinking had ended. Aro's gift was being able to see every memory of a being from just a single touch. If he touched me he would see my true intentions and all would be lost. As I closed the door behind myself I turned to look at Aro and bowed gracefully. "Come my child." he said to me, beckoning me forward. I held myself up tall and then walked briskly towards him. "Sir you called for me." I replied. Aro nodded and then rose to his feet to walk a circle once around me. Only when he stopped to stand inches from me did I grow nervous. "You see as leader of my coven I am very cautious about every thought, every action and every being that can effect us greatly. You my dear happen to be in that category. Your recent actions haven't gone unnoticed and for every action their is a consequence, whether good or bad it still is recieved." "Sir, I was just-" I began in defense. Aro held up his hand and I quickly fell silent. I thought it would be better not to disrupt or anger him. Especially since I was walking on egg shells. "Jane." He called My eyes widened slightly. Jane, who was Jane and why was he calling her. A young looking female with a stern face and blonde hair came to stand before Aro. "Yes Master." She said. "Teach this child what happens when you break the rules." He said simply before retreating to his throne where he resumed his seat. "This will only hurt for a moment." She said, grinning at me. Suddenly I fell to the ground and began twitching uncontrollably in pain. Several screams passed my lips, ringing out in a high suprano. I felt like my skull was on fire, like I was being lit on fire. What was happening to me? "Jane!" I heard someone call. The pain stopped and I tried hard to catch my breath. The pain that had left my body was now echoing through out my body like an after shock from an earth quake. I managed to settle myself enough to open my eyes and saw that Aro had taken a stand again. "Why have you interrupted the punishment for this dear one?" Aro asked. I turned my head and saw Rome walking front and center to stand before Aro himself. He bowed and then looked at me briefly before returning his gaze to Aro. "Master, I fear that this form of punishment will hurt our child." He said before joining my side and placing his hand on my stomach. I flinched momentarily before quickly regaining my composure and wrapping my arm around my husbands waist. "Ah curious I am to know what is to become of this offspring." Aro mused happily. Turning to Jane Aro smiled. "You lecture is no longer needed Jane." He said, waving her away. " He then turned to me and my husband. "You may go." Rome took my hand into his and towed me gently away. When we were in the safety of our room I tensed up, half expecting to be hit again. Only what happened next was completely unexpected. "Please don't do anything to result in getting harmed by Jane." he took my hands and pulled me into his arms and held me. "If I lost you, I can't fathom a life without you." He kissed my forehead, causing me to tremble lightly. "I know I've been a bit hard on you since we started our life together but I promise I will be a better husband." I wanted to cry as I listened to his words. Rome was going to change for me, to try and be a better husband for me. He truly loved me as he had saved me from Jane and Aro. I broke into tears and sobbed into his chest. "I forgive you." I cried. This wasn't me pretending like the past times. I felt something for him and I truly wanted to make this work between us. Especially if I was carrying his child. I wouldn't want my child living a life without his or her father. It was completely unacceptable in my eyes and beliefs. I would try everything in my power to make us a family. Rome dropped to his knees and pressed his ear to the stomach. He began talking to the child that was growing inside me. "You are loved." he murmered before placing his hand on my flat somach. One of the many things that had me curious was how fast the child would grow. My aunt Bella was pregnant with Renesmee for 1 month before she gave birth and Renesmee was half mortal. Since I was half mortal and Rome was half mortal that would make our child a quarter mortal. I guessed I would half a somewhat normal pregnancy and, if I was lucky, be able to deliver vaginally. "We are going to be happy." I said to Rome. "I'm here with you, forever." Rome looked up at me and smiled. "Forever I will love you."
