Rome and I skipped our football practice and called in saying we had went out of town for lunch and broke down in order to really get down and talk. I wanted truth, I wanted answers. We ditched the school and headed to his house where he made rose petal tea, one of this favorites. Once we had a tea cup full of tea and some crackers we sat down.
"So your parents?" He asked me.
It was all or nothing. I explained my mother coming from France and my father being a seccumbus that knocked her up and left her to die. I then went on about Rosalie and a few family members finding her and then expressed my birth. I finished with the story about my mother being exectuted for killing a few humans.
Rome took this story well and was happy to know that I had a family even if it wasn't my true birth parents. In his own words he said he would kill to have a family like mine. But then he reassured me that he was harmless.
"My mother was a hybrid vampire, I don't know much about her but I have a picture." He said as he handed it to me. "Her name was Mia Contetta" he added.
I took the picture gently in my hands and cleared the layer of dust off it with my thumb so I could get a better look. She was beautiful obviously. An elongated face, long wavy dark hair and soft features. She was a true beauty.
"My father" he began as he handed me another picture. "His name is Felix Rome Bonaparte Shakespeare. He hated his first name thats why he cut it out when he named me."
I looked at the picture and immeadiately noticed the resemblance. His father was handsome and Rome was just as handsome in comparison.
"Where is your father?" I asked him as I set down the pictures.
"He belongs to a Coven called the Volturi. You see while my mother was still carrying me they came to collect him. He said if they wanted him to join they'd have to give him time. He wanted to make sure I was able to take care of myself before he left. They gave into his wish and when I was old enough they came back and he left willingly."
"Well atleast you know he loved you or he would have just left the first time around." I said.
Rome nodded his head and took a small sip of his tea. I did the same and realized it tasted really good. I smacked my lips and then sipped some more.
"This is really good!" I said as I set my empty cup back down.
Rome looked up at me and nodded his head. "Yeah it is. It's my mothers recipie, it is several generations old. Do you want more?" He asked me.
I nodded my head and he rose to his feet grabbing the cups and walking quickly from the room at an inhuman speed. He was definitely something because no normal human could walk at such speeds. In less than 3 seconds he was back and sitting my cup of tea on the table beside me. In another second he was back sitting beside me.
I took another long sip and then stowed my cup back on its coaster. "Do you ever talk to your dad?" I asked him.
He shrugged his shoulders. "Well no, I haven't since he left."
I turned towards him. "Well why not? What is keeping you?"
His expression changed. "You should ask your family about the Volturi and then maybe you will find the answer." He tossed back the rest of his tea and then rose to his feet. "You should be getting home now its late."
I looked out the window and saw the sun was still bright. It couldn't be past 4:30 at the latest. I took the hint though. I must've hit a nerve with the father thing. Without arguing I rose silently to my feet and walked out the door.
I ran the length to my home and the moment I got inside I yelled my mothers name. In less than two seconds she was at my side. Her expression seemed to be panicked, I probably scared her.
"Mom. I want to know about the Volturi" I told her.
From the other room I heard a crash as if something broke. Dad's reaction to things that unhinge his nerves, he accidentally breaks things. That meant the Volturi was a unmentionable subject or atleast one that struck up bad memories.
"Why do you want to know about the Volturi?" She asked me.
"Because our neighbor Rome is the son of Felix. He's like me a hybrid."
A louder crash was heard as the doors burst off their hinges and fell to pieces on the floor. When I blinked my father was at my side literally shaking.
"I don't want you with that boy. I forbid you." he said to me.
I looked at him in disbelief. "Dad he's my friend."
"He's bad news. He's one of them." He hissed.
I looked over to my mother who just shook her head. "But dad!" I whined.
"Juliet you know how I hate it when you whine. It's not lady like." she chastized.
I huffed as I crossed my arms over my chest. "Please mom, I invited him."
"Enough!" She hissed. "I don't want to hear another word about this boy." She told me.
I was silent, caught completely off gaurd from her tone. This was the first time she had ever risen her voice at me and to be honest I didn't like it. I glared at her before I turned and headed up the stairs. When I got to my room I stopped.
"I hate you!" I screamed before I slammed my door.
