"FOUR YEARS LATER*
The ringing phone wakes me up. I roll over heavily and reach for the annoying device. I open an eye and squint at the name on the screen.
I pick it hurriedly when I realize that it's Lisa.
"What the hell, Bree? You mean you're still in bed? You didn't forget that today is my wedding day, did you?"
I roll my eyes. It's only six in the morning. The wedding doesn't start until noon.
"I can't forget your big day and you know that. I'm coming right over."
"Good girl. I'm bursting with excitement. You better hurry up before I combust."
I laugh.
"Don't combust yet. You'll have plenty of time for that once you get to Hawaii for your honeymoon."
"You don't say. You know what they say; that the wedding day belongs to the bride and the night is the grooms'?"
