I stand back and watch the emergency services cut open the car and pull Kosta out. The paramedics begin working on him straight away and move him up the ravine. I see Theo moving around up the top, and as soon as Kosta is safe at the top, turn and focus on Nicolina. It takes the workers another thirty minutes to free her from the car. I hear Nicolina scream, and hope begins to flutter in my stomach. I know she is alive. I try to get closer to the vehicle so Nicolina knows I am here. She isn't alone, but I get pushed back when Nicolina is pulled free of the wreckage. When they have her fastened to the stretcher, I go to her side and take her hand.
