EARLIER NICARRA'S POINT OF VIEW 'I can't believe we are going to be sleeping in different dorms.' said Nyssa as we walked up the stairs to her room led by our guide with Nyssa's familiar eagle flying around us. 'Don't worry Nyssa, it'll be okay.' I replied holding her shoulder and she stopped to look at me with her beautiful sea blue eyes smiling. 'I wish I had your confidence Nicarra.' And I wish I had your height.' She laughed as we both continued up the stairwell playing our game of 'I wish'. 'Well, here we are' said the guide in a cheery voice as she opened the door. The room was beautiful with white wash walls and two huge beds, with matching white sheets and pillows stationed to the right. In front of us are a glass doors which lead to a balcony outside. 'Wow' said Nyssa.' 'This floor is reserved for the highest female test scorers but we are pleased that this year, most of the highest scorers are royals. You will be proud to know you mother stayed in this room miss Nyssa, as did the mother of your room mate. 'You are back! Cool! said a girl about our age, walking out of a door to left. She is tall like Nyssa with dark brown hair, grey eyes and pouty lips. 'Nice to see you are settling well princess Lisa. I hope everything is too your liking.' said our guide 'Its ok, hi I'm Lisa.' said the girl with an extended hand. We exchanged pleasantries and then she looked at me and said, 'Wow you are really beautiful. Are your eyes real?' moving closer to me. 'Princess please respect their personal space, remember that not all clans are comfortable with close contact.' 'Its OK, I don't mind.' I replied, before looking back at Lisa and answering her question. 'So which one of you is my roomie?' 'Nyssa raisely her hand shyly as her eagle flew into the room from the open balcony door and perched on the beam close to the bed on the right. 'You are a witch?' said Lisa looking at the bird. 'I thought you said my room mate is a siren princess?' asked Lisa looking at the guide 'I am a siren and a witch.' Nyssa whispered. 'You are a hybrid?' asked Lisa 'We are both hybrids' I replied going into defensive mode in case this went south. Wouldn't be the first time. 'Cool!', she said, 'My grand mother is a hybrid, she is a witch and a Lycan and can do all sorts of cool stuff. I envy you guys, you get the best of both worlds, I wish I was a hybrid.' Nyssa and I looked at ourselves smiling and I said to her, 'I wish I had your beautiful grey eyes' 'And I wish I had your vivaciousness' said Nyssa. 'Really? Hey would you both like to see the best part of the room?' 'Yes please' Nyssa responded Lisa opened a door and we stepped into a huge walk-in-closet with lots of racks and cabinets, but what was most interesting was a mural walls and ceiling in the room, created with thousands of pictures and paintings of two pairs of women from different times and in different postures. 'I found it, when I wanted to hang my clothes. Check this out', she said switching off the light, Slowly letters began to glow on the roof of the room until they shined brightly. Written in cursive style was the phrase-Welcome, this room is a testament created by women who are a part of history which will outlive those to come. 'The first students to take this room' said the guide pointing to a painting of two women both standing in a river wearing ancient clothes. 'White witch Ruth and and Samara who was a djinn, a handful they both were. They wanted to be remembered so they took locks of their hairs and magically nailed it into walls of this room as a protective shield to those who would use the room after them, leaving instructions on how to renew the spell. However, your grandma Art master Ellis, she expanded the spell to protect the whole building.' 'Grandma Ellis', both said astonished. 'The same' replied the guide walking towards another part of the room 'And to honour both women who showed the way for peaceful co existence through co-operation between races, she created a spell that those who come after may remember those who were here before. This is the result' said the guide pointing to a picture of grandma Ellis in her youth in a short bob hair-cut wearing a short sleeved shirt with shorts, riding on the back of a tall, dark haired woman with fierce green eyes and an athletic build.' 'Who's that?' I asked curiously 'Luna Christine, my grand mother' said Lisa looking at the picture. Nyssa and I looked at her surprised. 'How come grandma Ellis never mentioned her?' 'She was your grand mothers best friend and Luna queen of the Lycans. Sadly she lived a short life and died bearing her son, who now the current Alpha King. Elder Ellis at the time was young and so broken she could barely function. She never forgave the Lycan king and blamed him for her friends death. It greatly strained relations between witches and lycans until these two met each other.' said the guide leading us all to another part of the room 'Look Nicarra, its mum' said Nyssa excitedly running towards a picture. 'I see you've found her' said the guide smiling, 'it took your mother weeks to find her mother.' 'Mum?' said Lisa I ran over and saw the picture of princess Nadia hugging a beautiful woman with black raven hair and tattoos all over her arms with grey eyes carrying a baby.' 'Our mothers were room mates?' asked Lisa. ''Indeed', said our guide. 'Together they were able to foster new relations between the lycans and the white witches. You both have big shoes to fill young ladies, I dare say.'. "Incredible' said Nicarra mesmerized by the sight. " Now I must leave you both to settle in. Miss Nicarra, I have informed your guide of your arrival and she is waiting for you at the entrance of your dormitory. I will wait for you outside to lead you out.' 'Thank you, eh I never got your name.' I responded. 'Its Daria miss, dinner is served in the dinning hall at seven. I will see you all there.' she replied bowing. 'Please let me know when my brother arrives Daria.' said Lisa sitting on her bed. Daria nods shutting the door 'Hey you don't have to go, the bed is large enough for an army.' said Nyssa 'You know I have to, and look on the bright side, movie nights and cookie nights will be more fun' 'What's a cookie night?' Asked Lisa. 'Trust me, its better experienced than explained' I said 'I'll see you at seven' I said hugging Nyssa. 'Stay out of trouble' Nyssa responded hugging me back. 'Me trouble? I don't know what you're talking about.' 'That's what I'm afraid of' Nyssa said finally releasing me. I walked out and closed the door following Daria to the stairwell leading out of the building. The entire building is filled with activities as students and caretakers walk up and down the staircase. 'Look girls, its the charity case all cleaned up' said a voice behind me, I turned around and saw Margot walk towards me with a few other teenage white witches, holding her familiar- a cat. Just great. 'I guess its to be expected when you are a sirens w***e' responded one of the witches I don't recognise and they all started giggling 'Hi Maggot, hello dim wits, fancy meeting you all here. Wow nice nose, Maggot, I heard you got it after smashing you nose on your sixth attempt at the school entry trials.' I responded. She subconsciously covered her nose with her palm. 'You think you are better than us, just because princess Nadia showed you pity? You are nothing but a worthless killer who tried to kill elder Ellis. You might fool everyone else with your innocence, but you don't fool us, we know who you really are.' said a girl I remember is called Cassie- Margot's sister. At this point a crowd had begun to gather watching our exchange, and though her words stung and hurt deeply, I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of my tears. Two can play this game. 'Is that what you tell yourself Cassie, to help you sleep at night every time you sleep with Martin? I believe that is your mate Patricia.' I responded looking at the only raven haired girl in the group. 'What?' said Patricia looking at Cassie 'She's lying! I didn't' said Cassie looking back at her 'You mean like when you lied that you needed his help to pass the tests and coven searched for you both for three days?' 'SHUT UP! WE WERE TRAINING!' Cassie screamed curling her fists. 'Really? Is that what you call three days of orgy in siren territory? Do you really think that he would leave his true mate for you? He's always having you for lunch but is clearly saving her for dessert. If you want to clear your doubts, why not ask him to mark you?' 'I DON'T NEED TO WEAR HIS MARK TO PROVE THAT HE LOVES ME!' Everyone including Margot gasped and I smiled at Cassie with my hands held up up, knowing I had successfully flipped the switch. Patricia walked over to Cassie and slapped her really hard in the face before storming away from the group taking a few girls with her. Margot looked at me with pure hatred saying,'this isn't over' before walking away leaving her sobbing, bleeding sister on the floor. I left the building and deliberately took a dirt path trying to avoid more confrontation. However, I didn't understand the map in my hands and soon I was lost and alone in a very beautiful garden. I pulled my bags to a bench trying to find my bearing. 'Hello lass, seems like you lost your way, just hold on a minute, I'll be right there?' I turned around but was surprised to see no one. 'Hey, over here', said the voice again. I looked to my right and saw a hand waving above the a garden of flowers, I watch until a gnome appears and begins to approach me. He has brown hair and eyes with a full beard and is dressed in blue shirt and black trousers which he covered with an apron smeared with soil and dirt. He wore a friendly smile as he stopped and looked up at me cleaning his dirt stained hands with the apron. ''Hello sir' I said smiling back. 'No sirs here lass, the names Gariel, Gariel gardener; at your service me lady ' he responded in his thick Irish accent tiping his imaginary hat. I giggle at his antics before responding, 'its nice to meet you Gariel, my name is Nicarra.' 'Favour to you Nicarra.A beautiful name for a beautiful lass I say, that I do.' 'And kindness to you forever Gariel' 'Ah, I see you know our greeting, very few among the young folk practice it these days.' 'I learned from my grandmothers closest friend, she always spoke of her village and would tell me stories all the time.' 'And who be this person of which you speak, perhaps I may know her?' 'Her name is granny nightingale.' 'Old lady nightingale! with her sharp tongue, glass walking stick and the voice that rivals the angels.' 'You know her?' 'Know her! She be me great-great aunt on me mother side. Pride of the village, that she is. But hold on, her closest friend that I know of be art master Ellis. You be her grand daughter?' I looked down and nodded as a lump formed in my throat making speech difficult. 'Come now lass, don't give old Gariel that face.' he said pulling me to sit on one of the benches along the walk way. 'Tell you what, I promise If you cheer up, I'll share with you a secret over me lunch, that I will.' he continued handing me an apple I smiled at his gesture and took the apple from him, thanking him. 'There now all better, a face so beautiful should always wear a smile, that it should. Your gran is strong, she be one of the greatest of the artmasters, even surpasses grand master Lucius who be centuries older, she will recover. That she will ' Large shadows, passed over us from above and we both looked up to find dragons of various colours flying above us. 'Ah look, the dragons are arriving! I hear the crown prince will be in attendance. The SOME hasn't had a crown prince from the dragon clan attend in over seven centuries, must be why there are so many. ' said Gariel We watched as several passed and many people came out from several buildings to watch the view as well. 'What a sight!' said Gariel It was indeed a breath taking sight to behold but equally fearsome. The dragons were large and it was difficult to understand how they flew so gracefully despite their bulk in weight. 'That must be him, prince Warren, he be much bigger than I imagined. That he be' said Gabriel as he pointed to a very large, black dragon, the size of a city. As I saw saw the dragon flapping majestically through the air, my heart constricted within my chest and I felt a strange tingling all over my body. 'Warren' I whispered, looking at the dragon flap his large wings gracefully across the sky. 'So how may I help you Nicarra?' 'I need to get to the dormitory of the sky?' 'Ah, that's easy, just go straight down this path and turn left, walk forward and there it stands. If you can just hold on a bit, I'll walk you there.' 'Would you Gariel? Thank you' I replied. After a few minutes, we both walked and laughed over many things until he led me to a beautiful building where a fairy stood waiting for me. 'We are here' Gariel said looking up at me. 'Thank you Gariel.' No need for gratitude lass, I already see you like me little niece. Come find me if you need anything, you hear.' 'I surely will Gariel.' I replied slowly walking into the building.. After finding my room and settling in, Nyssa and I texted for a few minutes. She informed me she was exploring the school grounds with Lisa and asked that I join them. I declined and told her we would meet up later in the main hall. I laid down to rest, but was woken up some time later by my ringing phone. 'Hello' I said picking it up. I heard Lisa shouting at someone in the back ground but everything else faded and my heart stopped when I heard Nyssa tearfully calling my name, 'Nicarra'. I sprang up from my bed and raced out of my room, crashing into a veiled plump small lady at the top of the staircase. Apologizing quickly I picked up my fallen phone and raced to the main hall. Someone just signed their death warrant.
