I had barely kicked off my shoes and collapsed onto the couch when my phone rang after a long day in school. I glanced at the screen and felt a little flip in my stomach.
Raven.
I answered, trying to sound casual.
"Hey, you."
"Hey, yourself. How was work?"
"Oh, you know, soul-sucking. The usual. What’s up?"
There was a pause, just long enough to make me suspicious.
"So… my family is planning a boat trip this weekend. Thought it’d be fun if you came along."
I sat up so fast I nearly launched myself off the couch.
"A boat trip? With your family? The same family that includes, oh I don’t know, a small army of Millers?"
Raven chuckled.
"Come on, it’s not that bad. It’ll be me, Lucy, Adam and his wife with the baby, Koda and Jules with their baby, Skye and Lila, B
