They're waiting for me by the wall. My men. They run through the broken rubble, stumbling and tripping over the fallen, ours and enemy soldiers alike. Corwin shouts to the Shifter who growls and snaps at him in response. Reggie answers something I don't catch. Corwin and the other men split off, shouting and Reggie yells directions to the Shifter.
“When?” I ask Reggie softly. I don't have to clarify my question.
“He's given you until the next dawn to make your decision.” Reginald's answer is brisk, but I hear the note of sympathy within it. I won't need that long.
“Where's he keeping her?” I question. There is a growl from beneath us. The Shifter is protesting. Reggie refuses to answer, and I understand why, but press him. “Where Reggie?”
