“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Lottie, happy birthday to you!” We all sang together, watching as Lottie’s eyes shimmered with joy. And as we all started to cheer and clap, Lottie leaned over and blew out all the candles on her birthday cake with one big blow. She then leaned back and pressed her eyes shut.
“ OK, everybody shut up so I can make a wish!” She yelped, making me look at Addie while she just shrugged at me, shaking her head as if saying ‘give the girl her moment’.
