Chapter Two

C H A P T E R 2 : "you multiply this blah blah blah... " my calculus teacher rambled on. Zolton had come to class only for the first period, and you think he would change? Once a bad boy, always, or so as they per se. The clouds had formed large gloomy balls of fluff as it started pouring heavily. And… surprisingly I didn't carry an umbrella with me. You honestly couldn’t trust the weather reports. Sighing, I let my head bang on the table lightly, trying not to attract embarrassing attention. “Well, I guess that's today's fate sealed” I mumbled as I huffed in annoyance. I had already learnt everything the teacher was speaking about, so my attention span slowly dwindled along with his voice. It made no sense that the school hadn’t allowed me to move up a grade faster. It was not because I was smart, no, not at all. It’s just I had too much free time. All the time put aside for a social life, was the time that I had spent with my nose in the books, cause yes! You guessed it right…! I have no social life. Sighing at my misery, I looked outside the window to see a figure standing in the rain. I was shocked to see none other than Zolton. Did he think he was on some kind of movie set?  I stared as he stood there his eyes closed his face looking up to the sky. Was he shooting a scene? I scoffed at the sight before me. This man was indeed a sight to look at. I turned back to the whiteboard allowing the teacher's voice to lull me back into my thoughts. To be quite honest I had always been a bit curious about the mysterious delinquent bad boy Zolton. He always had this dark Aura around him and he barely spoke. I guess those were the signs leading to curiosity. He had no reason to keep to himself especially if people kept flinging themselves at him, though they were afraid.  He never showed interest in anyone and never bothered talking to anyone, he always looked alone, angered and mostly he looked broken. But then again that was just what I had observed over time I had sat next to him, and yes, maybe occasionally glanced at him during the lunch break. everyone else liked him endlessly, nevertheless. I don’t understand what it is but ever since we’ve made eye contact, the very first day we had met, I had grown an attraction to him. It may sound like a teenage girl going into heat, but quite surprisingly, it felt as though I had no choice. My eyes would just look for him. S though they were supposed to. Funny how stalker like that played out in my head. He would probably run off the moment he even caught a glimpse of these thoughts. Haa, the speciality of a loner. I sighed clearing my thoughts and looking out the window again. But to only see he wasn't there anymore but rather there was an empty space occupying the spot that he had just been in under the splattering raindrops. When the bell rang everyone head to the indoor cafeteria. And I, like y usual routine, headed to the library like always. I walked in heading towards the seat I had always occupied near the window at the end of the library. Grabbing a book near the shelf, I allowed myself to fall into the pages of the book, nothing could bring me out…was what I thought until a chair scraped against the old library floor. I looked up from behind the book only for my eyes to meet with Zolton’s eyes. Internally screaming at the shock that suddenly sat before me, I put the book down taken aback. I looked around me to see if there was anything interesting, perhaps a sign that said “kick me” that may have attracted this delinquent to even bother sitting near me. Funny enough, there was nothing. "I-Is something the matter?" I questioned him, baffled by his actions. He simply looked at me not uttering a word. "What's the matter? Are you looking for something? If it’s the homework, I haven’t done it yet." I said in a hurry, as a confused look took his face by my sudden spur of words. "it’s not that, it’s Nothing, just curious, that's all." well then, my world froze. This is the first time I've heard him speak a full sentence that lasted more than 10 seconds, other times I couldn't even hear his voice, why?  Don’t know. The stalker ide I had just discovered would most likely be the only explanation. But what had me overly confused when he spoke up my heart began beating rapidly. Ba-dump? It made no sense to feel that. His voice sounded like caramel, not that I have heard what caramel sounded like, but it felt all smooth and pretty, as well as husky and deep. His Adam apple bobbed when he spoke and his teeth were a sparkly white. I looked away, flushed. I think I’ve started confusing fiction with reality. My feet felt week even though I wasn't walking, my heart was beating fast even though his words meant nothing. I said nothing as I picked up the book again and continued reading. He simply just sat opposite me silently. Minutes went by and felt utterly long and excruciating. His stares were stabling me through the book and I could feel it. "You know, I feel uncomfortable being stared at," I said and he simply smiled. ‘stop it, heart’ An hour passed by as the lunch-bell went and for some reason Soon after, the library doors opened and our heads snapped to the door. ‘Oh, God! Not today I beg of you. I'll study extra hard just not now.’ They made their way towards me and it was none other than the ridiculously ugly popular, Ryan and Esmarie. I kept my head down and Zoltan just stared at them. ‘Idiot! Did he want our lives ruined?!’ They looked my way, blatantly ignoring Zolton, and walked towards me, fat smirks on their ugly pretty faces. Well then, this is the end. "Well, well, well, If it isn't the introverted nerd? Or was loner the right word?" Ryan said as he stared at me with hatred. You know, I never understood the entire high-school concept of bullying. Like what did I ever do to him to attract such an expression? The laws of high-school were just something I would never understand. "Who knew you needed your eyes checked out Ryan?" I questioned him. His eyes turned deadly. I guess he's not used to me insulting him yet. ‘I might as well end myself looking like a heroine.’ "Don't speak to him like that, and Zolton, honey don't stick around with her, she'll only ruin your high-school life like the pest she is." Esmarie exaggerated. Well, I don't care, it's not like Zoltan and I were friends anyway. Not getting the reaction she wanted, Esmarie frowned. Well, 1 girls’ expression is two people's downfall. I know I'm awesome. "You little Bitch!" Ryan yelled, but just as he was about to touch me, an animal like Growl rang in my ears. Ryan froze stepping back fear taking over him. Esmarie looked as confused as I did, but Zoltan didn't seem fazed. "D-Did you hear that?" Esmarie questioned but I kept silent. "I guess she is bad luck!" she laughed non humorously. "Let's get out of here, yeah?" Ryan said nervously. He looked pale like he had seen a ghost. Soon they were gone. I turned to face Zoltan who said nothing. "What just happened?” I asked as my hand trembled slightly. “D-Did you hear that?" * yay! chapter 2 complete! what is happening indeed? let me know your thoughts in the comment section! don't forget to voteate the book! until the next update! -Rama
