In the afternoon, Siren only stayed in the room. Olly was crying with the men downstairs. She hadn’t had her breakfast and lunch and only got out of their room in the afternoon. Siren chose to stay in the room.
“You should join them downstairs,” she said to Julio, who was reading a crime book on the chair next to the bed. She was leaning on the headboard and watching him. She didn’t think he’d hear her. He looked engrossed with what he was reading. But he looked up and frowned at her.
“Don’t mind her.”
“You’ve upset her. You’ve gone too far on her, too.”
He closed the book, put it down on the chair, and sat on the edge of the bed to focus on her. “I don’t regret what I did. She knew what she did.”
“You were closed to killing her,” she pointed out.
“Like she did to you.”
