Parnet let himself down to the ground, cursing the horse as it side stepped. “Let them know I’m here,” Parnet yawned. “Ask for that girl. What was her name?” “Iola,” Thorat muttered reluctantly. “You go, then,” Parnet ordered. “Say that after that I would speak with Tiagasa.” Thorat bowed and approached the gate house, where a green-clad priestess greeted him. “Who seeks the dragons?” The priestess held her hand on the gate latch, looking for her offering. “The new governor of Anamat seeks them with the priestess Iola,” Thorat said. “After that he would have council with Tiagasa.” It was embarrassing to have to convey such a blatantly inappropriate request, but then, Parnet was governor now, and apparently he could do as he chose. “What does he bring?” the gate priestess asked.
