Who was at the cabin?” Luci broke the thick tension between her and Timber as he would have preferred for her to remain silent for the remaining half hour it would take to bring her where August requested that she be taken. Without offering much more than an uncomfortable shift in his seat, Timber allowed her to wallow in her curiosity and anxiety as she then focused out her own window as these questions continued to pull at her. “Was it the Kearneys-” Suddenly she was forced mute by the rise of the radio being adjusted by Timber’s quick pinch and twist. Letting out a sigh of her own and throwing herself into the seat as if she was a young child disappointed and immature, she recalled how she was able to force the truth from Paxton’s lips. And so, she focused on her heartbeat
