We spent a little time at Maya’s parents’ house. Their eyes barely left Ryder, and if they weren’t on him they were on Maya. I think the shock of seeing her again was hard. But I can understand that. Yet they instantly warmed to Ryder, which I have to say is difficult not to anyway, but already you could see their love for him blossoming, and I knew he would be the reason this whole situation healed quicker than it might otherwise have done.
Ryder was being his usual cheeky self, and making them laugh. Keeping them busy, anytime we stepped up to see to him, we were told to sit down. They were desperate to see to him, bond with him, and Maya just nodded and smiled at me. I think she was willing to let them do that. She knew she had to try to help this rift fix itself.
