Aldric's POV
As much as I am delighted that she is aware and well ready with the wedding, somehow I felt that her answers were chipped. Short and mostly impatient in the beginning. But later sweet to a point even I wondered if I was talking to the same girl.
If there's one thing I noticed, then that is that she really is okay with this wedding. I am happy with that for now.
It's been six decades since my race has been confined to this place. Where we have very few resources.
I mean, not all of us are bad. And certainly we don't want any violence. We are okay as long as we are fed and are given shelter. There are a few groups of savages but I know what to do, to keep them at bay.
"How did that go?" Martel asked me.
"Well, she is aware and she is okay with it," I said with a smile on my face.
"I hope she means that," Martel said and now I am thrown into another round of confusion.
Because Martel is not someone who would just say whatever comes across his mind and then give an explanation. He is someone who would think a hundred times before uttering even a single word.
"What is it?" I asked him and he took a few seconds to respond.
"The seer wants to see you, Your Majesty" he said, with a tone I haven't heard in a while from him. The formal tone.
I did not say anything back. I just stood up and started walking to the wing where the seer resides. Martel silently walked behind me but maintained two feet distance according to the long standing Royal traditions and rules.
It took my vampire speed a minute to reach where the seer is. The room is empty. It was just him, Zane and Celeste. Usually along with the head seer, his followers and people who are learning the skill from him would swarm this place and do various things to hone their ability.
"I am afraid I was told you called for me?" I asked the seer.
I am personally not a fan of this guy. But he is just here because Zane and Martel believe in him.
"Sorry, if you were troubled, Your Majesty. But I have something important to tell you" he said.
His long salt and pepper hair sat on top of his head in a neatly twisted bun. His eyes were like a hawk's. And his long beard covers half his face with his mouth often nowhere to be seen underneath his bushy moustache.
"I was informed of your wedding, and I congratulate you on that" the seer said and my glance fell on Zane.
Martel wouldn't dare do something without my permission and against my order. It had to be Zane because that motherfucker does not really care even if I tell him that it's my order.
"Well, thank you. If that's all, then I am leaving" I said and turned around but his laugh made me stop and turn around again.
"What?" I asked him.
"I saw visions just as I heard of the news, Your Majesty. Visions that's not so pretty. Visions that would become true if this marriage moves forward," he said, as he sat calmly in his usual posture. With his feet underneath his ass and his knees facing whoever is in front of him.
"And what are those visions, Oh Great Seer of all time," I asked him with a smirk.
The seer smiled again. I don't even remember his name. I never tried to remember in the first place.
"There will be a bloodbath a year after your wedding. It will come as a storm. Thousands of our kind will lose their lives. People you love would be hurt. And all of that stems from the very own fact of your marriage," he said with great seriousness in his face.
I just stood there, waiting if there's something else left for that seer to say. When there was nothing left, I turned around to leave again. And I did start walking out of the room. Maybe I should kick him out.
There were footsteps behind me and judging how they were closer than two feet, I realised it was Zane. He was simply walking behind me and did not make an attempt to stop me.
People who came across to me bowed, and other seers were shocked to see that I am here at their wing. Because I don't really come here. As I said, I am not a fan of this seer guy.
Once I was in my office again, Zane walked in behind me and he stood with his eyes so serious. I raised my eyebrow at him but he just stood there, staring at me.
"Please drop your plan, now!" He asked me and I rolled my eyes.
"Zane, for the love of devil shut the f**k up" I said.
Through the corner of my eye, I saw Celeste and Martel walking inside the office. Great. Now I will have to use my Royal tone that would probably make both of them leave. But Zane will be a tough one to crack.
I keep telling him that I might use my Royal tone on him but I never did. As much as I hate him, he is the only family I have. The one who would rule this race if something were to happen to me. So I can't do something foolish that would prompt him to leave or do something that he and I would regret later on.
"Your Majesty, if you don't mind me interfering -"
"Not you too, Martel" I shook my head at him.
He was the one who asked me to call the girl to know if she is okay with the wedding. Now that she is alright, should I be the one calling her to say that the wedding is off because my seer told that she would bring violence to my kingdom?
She comes from a place where a new generation of people doesn't even believe in supernaturals. And yet, here we are believing that seers can see everything and that that's often correct.
It could be. But still, I am not going to change my decision. As simple as that.
"I have no belief in whatever rubbish he is talking about. And even if I did, I am sorry to break it to you all but the wedding will still happen. The girl will still come here. And she will be called Her Majesty," I told them all.
Just when I was about to ask them to get out of the room, a guard walked in with something in his hand. His head was focused on the floor and he stopped at a two feet distance as per the protocol.
"A package for you, Your Majesty" he said and I took that.
Not many packages arrive for me other than the blood bag shipments the hospitals send me from time to time. But the emblem on the address note brought a small smile to my face.
It's from the mayor's office. But it's not his handwriting. It could probably be Brianna's.
"Oh wow. You are sending each other gifts already? Brother, are you really this serious?" Zane asked me and now he is getting on my nerves.
"Yes, Zane. Now shut the f**k up. Really. Or I might actually use my Royal tone to make you bow so deep your neck would be in severe ache for days," I muttered as I tore the wrapper open and found a box.
And inside the box is a note and a ziplock bag that's somehow not transparent. It's red in colour.
The note read ,
A pre wedding gift from your bride. Let's get married, Aldric Finch.
And in that ziplock bag, is a dagger with blood smeared all over it.
