EMIR'S POV
The next morning in my office, I asked Henry to take the pill that I found in our room to a laboratory to examine. I have a suspicion about it already, but I just want to make sure before I make a confrontation with my wife.
"I need an immediate report," I ordered him.
"Yes sir."
I was busy checking the company's profit when someone kept knocking on the door of my office. I was a bit annoyed by the noise. If it is my secretary, Jessica or my assistant Henry they only have to knock once and come in already, so I called my Secretary on the intercom because I am certain it is not one of them.
"Yes, Mr. Villafranco?" She asked when she picked up the call.
"Are you sure that you are in the right job? It is only my office on this floor and you can't manage to attend the annoying one that keeps on knocking on my door?"
"I'm sorry sir," she apologizes and suddenly the door opens.
"Don't be too harsh my son, I am just having a little fun annoying you." It was my uncle Ruben, dad's brother, laughing at my annoyance.
"I'm sorry uncle, I didn't know that it was you," I said and walked closer to welcome him.
"It's all right, I just came here to see you, it's been a long time since the last time we saw each other. How are you?" He cheerfully asked me.
We both sat on the couch.
"Thank you for coming over uncle,"
"I don't know if you are glad to see me here, you almost fired your Secretary a while ago." He cut me off and laughed.
Actually, if not because of my wife, I'm pretty sure she's unemployed today and she can't even put food on her family's table.
"I just don't want any disturbance while I'm working uncle, I thought it's just a different person who might get lost around the building and end up here. I never thought that it was you." I explained.
"It's okay, I'm just making fun of you, you're so serious. Look at your employees, they are all afraid of you, can't you be a little bit of... You know sweet and gentle?" We laughed together with his statement and Jessica came with two cups of coffee.
"You sound like Hope, uncle," I commented.
"Really? So how is she, by the way?"
"She's fine, still stubborn as she always is," I said, sipping my coffee.
"I still can't believe you offer your own organ to save her father." He unbelievably said.
"You always have unique ways of getting things. But I know you truly love her, the way you look at her, and you will not marry her if not, right?" He added.
I only smirked at his statement, but he is right. I will always love my wife no matter what.
Uncle Ruben stayed for almost an hour talking about my life and some business. Since my father died he is the one who guided me in my every decision especially when it comes to business. But he can never change the fact that I will always be like my father.
My phone suddenly rings, it was Ana. I'm certain that it is something about my wife again.
"What happened?" I directly asked.
"Umm, sir. It is Ms. Hope," she stammered.
"Speak up!"
"Sir, I think she left, when I go to your room to check on her," I don't have time to listen to her stupid explanation, I ended the call and immediately get out of the office.
"Cancel my meeting this afternoon," I ordered Jessica when I walk past her and walk straight to the elevator. I quickly got inside my car and checked her phone location, and called her but it had no signal. I angrily stamp the spinning wheel of my car and started the engine. I drove fast to her family's house.
I saw her father fixing something in the garage when I arrived.
"Good to see you again, my son." He stopped and greeted me warmly. But this man has no idea what is going on between me and his daughter, I bet he would be so disappointed if knows about it.
"I'm sorry dad if I didn't come with Hope yesterday when she visited you, I am just too busy at the office." I reasoned.
"Of course, I understand. Let's come inside and I'll prepare a coffee for you." He offered.
"Thanks, Dad,"
I tried calling Hope's number again but she is not picking up. So I just sent her a message telling her that I am at her dad's.
"Here son, did Hope tell you about the good news?"
"I think she forgot to tell me, what is it about?" I asked with an excited reaction.
"John will be receiving a special award for academics on his graduation!" Mr. Lee announced happily.
"That's great. He did a very good job." I commented.
"Yeah, and thanks to you. He always looked up to you and your achievements, that's why he is so eager to study hard not to disappoint you." I just smiled at his statement. Maybe it's true that I am only using this family to threaten my wife but despite all of my selfishness I truly care for them as I care for my wife and will do everything to protect them.
After almost an hour, Hope arrived. I saw her eyes glaring at me but I only smirk at her
"Oh, finally you are here. We did a lot of talking while waiting for you." Mr. Lee cheerfully said to Hope.
"Where have you been sweetie?" I asked her while pulling her to sit beside me, but didn't answer.
"You really look good together, I'm sure you will have beautiful children as well." Mr. Lee commented while I smiled at Hope.
"Dad, please. Stop it." Hope protested.
"Why? Come on, Hope. Your husband wants to have kids already and look, you've been married for almost two years, maybe it's time for me to have a grandchild." He said and winked in my direction. I just chuckle at his enthusiasm while my wife seems irritated about the topic.
"It's okay dad, I can always wait until my wife is ready," I said looking at her, but she only frowned and her father sighed.
"You know, the most precious job in this world is becoming a parent. No matter how you make billions in your company it will never surpass the reward a son or daughter can give." He disappointingly said looking between the two of us.
"Dad, we have to go." Hope quickly said and approached her dad to kiss goodbye already.
"You are just avoiding the topic, my dear. All right then." And with that, we bid goodbye to him.
Hope's father is far from mine, he is so kind and understanding. I never heard my father once laughed with us, he is always firm and only cares about my achievements to brag to people and keep on reminding me to avoid failure because he will not think twice to disown me. As a kid and hearing, those threats from a father taught me to establish such a manner I have now.
