“Oh, it’s real buddy,” Gavyn chortled.
“No way…” Corrine muttered.
“... And another one bites it!” Corey snickered.
“Don’t worry, kid. All immortals go through it,” Mr. Donovan assured the new guy.
Renee watched him with a careful eye. Those that fell from grace usually had a massive panic attack and were a danger to themselves.
“You don’t understand…”the guy huffed. “I’m not even supposed to…”
“Be here?” Colla questioned. “Yeah, that’s what they all say.”
“All I needed was some help,” the guy growled.
“And now you’ll get it,” Gavyn teased.
“Shut up, Gavyn,” Renee warned.
“Or what?” Gavyn’s tone struck a chord with her. “You gonna send your big dumb bodyguard after me?”
Renee shook her head then avoided Gavyn the best she could. All eyes found hers
