Two weeks later
“S-so, are y-you okay?” Carter kept her voice soft but she couldn't help but sound excited. Lucas had called her after a few days of neither of them talking and it relieved her to know he was still alive and able to speak.
“Of course, princess.” Lucas chuckled. “Things are getting pretty tough over here but for some reason, we haven't had a fight in two days. It's actually unnerving how calm things have been. But everything's okay.” His voice was full of happiness and he sounded relaxed. Maybe he had gotten some sleep and a good meal. Carter hoped he had.
