Malorie led William around his car and past Brian’s door to cross the street. It seemed she wanted to be sure that Brian had them in frame and that they were clearly seen going into the house from the front door.  William took in the way she shivered as her foot crossed the threshold of where the driveway met the street and wondered if she had ever even used it. The thought itself was overwhelming and so he gently squeezed her hand, feeling an equally tight squeeze back.  “Just…” she began only to stop. William watched her carefully eye the silver SUV in the driveway, presumably making sure no one was in it, on their way out, or ready to stop her.
