We all waited with bated breath as Kee poured the potion she made down Nikoli's throat. Kee gently put his head back on the pillow. The doctor, Olive, was quick to start checking him over.
"Why isn't it working?" Kee whispered.
My heart broke a little. I know that Kee is blaming herself. I don't have to read her mind to know that. It's just a trait that my mate possesses. Kee might not have been the one to actually poison Nikoli, but it was her blood that put him in this bed. That alone is enough for Kee to try to steal all the blame.
