CHAPTER III: RECOVERED PATHS
After witnessing a nonpareil sunset, swimming upon the euphoric waters of the night, Marlina stood up, and rose from the log. She descended from the mound, and walked the same path she used to get where she was. And yet, this time she felt it shorter; she reached faster to her cabin, for the vision of her future made her walk her steps quickly.
She entered the small wood place, and found it rearranged, groomed. The table was rebuilt, the dishes were clean, the fireplace was burning smoothly, and the books recovered their orders rearranged on the delicate shelves.
Emerita was sitting. Silently, up front the incessant fire, breaking the small firewood. She was calm, reading a blue book.
“Eme, we need to talk”
“I already know what you are going to tell me” the young woman answers.
“You do?” responds Marlina.
"That's right" exclaims Emerita, closing her book. “The man of the air came here, and talked to me. I couldn´t agree more.”
"It will make things easier, then" says the woman. “Listen, I don't have to-
"I have my things packed already" interrupts the woman. “I'm leaving tonight, when the golden bell on your shelf rings.”
“Midnight it is not the best time to leave” reply Marlina, confused.
"This is the best time for me," exclaims the woman. “Don't think I'm grateful, we both know your brother was the one who wanted us to be together.”
“It is no longer possible and you know it well” the woman continues, “you know these lands perfectly. You´ve taught you what I have been able to, and your path should not be the same as mine.”
Suddenly, a golden bell rang on its own. Time seemed to have sped up, in the women's conversation. Emerita got up from her grinding machine, grabbed her things and passed the front of the goddess's gaze. The latter felt nostalgia, however, when she saw the decisive but immature look of her adoptive sister.
“I didn't want things to be like this, Emerita.”
"I'll be long away from here" the young woman replies, opening the door. “As you probably already know. I don't understand what your brother's intentions are, if this was going to be the end.”
"How could he know this?" answers Marlina. “He just wanted us to fulfill his purposes.”
“Purposes that are never clear” answers Emerita, “purposes that are never understood. He knows very well this was complicated, for he knows more than anyone the differences between gods and humans. They are not compatible, and they´ll never be.”
"You don´t know that, Emerita" exclaims the goddess of light.
“I don't understand this life” responds the young woman. “You try to do your best, and she only returns chaos to you. It´s as if it was never enough for her. Until it's enough for you, you stood up; then you´re the evil one, then you´re too much. And we end up in these terms, at war with the one we love the most.”
"We were never meant to stay together" continues Emerita. “We are destined to be the exact opposite. And I can't live closer to this truth, not anymore.”
Around the asceticism of the night, a series of thunder began to roar among the surroundings. Emerita, looked into the depths of the forest, and entered slowly. The woman was on her way, up to the southern side of the island.
Emerita's pride led her onto a scintillating path of a daunting storm; incessant rain washed over the region, and as the goddess had warned her, it was the worst time to make her departure.
The beautiful woman did not stop, however. She paused briefly, hiding in between the shades of the trees. The woman had come a long way; too long, in fact. And in a short period of time, she had reached the heights of the southern woodland.
She had never seen this zone before, as it was the first time she traveled this far upon these hidden lands. It was the first time the goddess had given her the confidence to walk her path this far on her own, and precisely this limited knowledge made her lose herself among the unexplored areas of her mind, within the immense mystery of the magic island.
The rain had stopped, after a while, and over the intertwined amid of the darkness felt from the frigid, cold night, the woman glimpsed a steep, ascending path. She decided to cross through, since the idea of appreciating the place from above seemed to be the best option. She didn´t know where to go, and she certainly had no idea where she was, other than in the maze of her whimsical imagination.
She kept following the elevated path; climbing up and between the small mountain. The sky was difficult to appreciate, as she still was surpassing the boundless trees of the area; with her magic hood, embroidered by the Goddess of Light, she continued to cover herself from the small rocky stones that fell as she climbed by, until something captivated her eyes. Something was striking in the woman´s vision; a bluish radiation, rising above, which seemed to rise from the top, as a giant light of nature she had never seen before.
The light opened the curtains of the dark firmament. The parade of the night was being clarified. The hyperborean nightfall was finally illuminated, covered by a few bursts of impeccable lights; divine before the eyes of the human. The energy caught her heart, wheedle her delicate spirit, for after traveling a long night, it seemed she had finally arrived at a valuable place of the unknown region.
The light continued to guide her, and she climbed until she reached the top of the small hill. And as she poked her head out, she found a small set of lighting bushes. A glimpse of the miracle, sprouting a sapphire energy from the strange savanna. She then, crossed the small bushes, and found a final short rocky path, that would take her upon the top of the mountainside.
The lovely woman brushed the bushes off her face, for the agitated bluish energy was inviting her graceful soul. She couldn’t contain herself, so she followed the sweet sound coming out of these lights. They were covering all of her, radiating elegant fragments of spirits all around. Watching her, protecting her. Guiding her to reach the apex of the mountain, on the cusp of the unknown, and her eyes raved with beauty when she saw he miracle standing in front of her.
In the distance was a tower, which could only be explained from a celestial origin. It was the center of the energy which gushed all around the place. A sparkling path of light was made between the heights, which manifested beautifully before her eyes; forming an instant path, illuminated, from the impressive tower all over the top of the small mountain where the woman was standing. A spectacle that remained forever engrained in the woman´s mind and memory.
Suddenly, a dizzying voice took over the mysterious surroundings, roared among the echoes of the heights, and exclaimed a few words to the confused princess.
“Welcome, initiated of the Earthlings, to the great Palace of Aravir. Made in ten sacred days by the Great Arac, The Chosen One.” exclaims the mysterious voice, echoing in the heights of the mountain.
“Your spirit has been drawn here, for in here lies the new path reserved for you; recovered from the perfection of all deities. Go ahead, follow the bridge of light. The God of Plasma is waiting for you, in the last chamber.”
The scintillating path of light became brighter between the heights, displaying itself beautifully before her eyes.
Emerita couldn't believe what her eyes were witnessing. She thought twice about following the bridge, or simply turning around and heading back to the fields, where she felt safer. But she knew in her soul, the way was only forward, and her heart couldn't stop screaming at her, excited; pounding intensely. She was genuinely attracted to the shining tower.
She took the first step, and felt like she was walking through the air. The magical path of light shone above the sky, upon the nocturnal, and allow her to float among the wonderful heights of the south. She was in a dream, latent of hope and new beginnings.
She crossed the long road, trying not to look down; it was a long fall. A set of waving energies accompanied her on both sides; guiding her toward the entrance of the tower, until she reached the huge glowing door.
The tower was made up entirely of blue crystals. Its bases solidified by themselves, intertwining on all of its condensed parts; the power from crystals of plasma and marine energies were present, sprouting light of them. Unifying an abyssal structure, which, in reality, seemed to have been built to be the purpose of a giant lighthouse.
The doors opened inward on their own, and the woman felt the coldness breathe inside the palace. It was desolated, frozen. The floor of the entrance was also engraved of crystals, denoting a living purple energy from within. These were perfectly synchronized, and danced with each other. Oscillating like living entities. They were placed there, in their perfect order, as run all over from the ground, up to the giant pilasters. An among the two giant pilasters, stood a perfect structure covered with purple fire, which gave the designation of the majestic palace,
“ARAVIR SOLARI”
