Chapter 44

2269 Words

Leaving the office happens to be the best part about my day. I just wanna get to mom's, pick Sam then drive to Tori's. After such a shitty day, there's nothing I need more than family. My windows are rolled all the way up. I hate the smell of fuel and smoke from the speeding cars, and it bugs me when random hawkers stick their heads in my car trying to sell me stuff in traffic. I normally wouldn't mind that, but then pregnancy is turning me into a cranky b***h. I control the wheel with one hand when my phone rings in my bag. That's Brent, probably telling me that he's on his way to meet Max. The phone number on the screen, however, is a strange one. I focus on the road ahead, wondering whether to answer or not, and in the end, I lightly press the speaker button on the steering wheel.
