I had rushed to my sister's room, for I had hoped that Lena may understand. She had always been the one I confided in. The one I turned to. But right now I think she was torn. Torn between being the amazing sister she had always been, and duty to our pack. I hated it. I hated her being put in that situation. Listening to Lena try to convince me of reasons why the arrangement could be good for us told me she had likely sat within the silence of her own bedroom and had to convince herself only a short while before I had come to join her. I had seen the expression upon her face as we were told the news. She was scared. Lena was an intelligent woman. But she was maybe a little naïve. Trying to please others. I don’t think her, or I, for that matter had ever imagined ourselves having to marry
