― I don't want to lie again.    I should be trembling in fear going home now but I don't. I was staring blankly on the mirror at the backseat, watching the city blurred behind me. We drove past the entrance of the village and the anticipation of fear is still not there.  It only occurred to me once I'm already inside the compound. The guards are standing on duty. I didn't let the car drive me to the circular driveway. I walked the path to our house and used the time to finally prepare myself.  I was still in the foyer when I heard dad's uproar. The maids who went out to greet me lowered their heads as if afraid to catch my dad's attention. After I acknowledged their presence, they raced down the hall and to the kitchen.
