Chapter 20

*Celina’s POV*  Lilith wasn’t kidding when she said we were training extensively this week. There were parts of my body that were hurting that I didn’t even know it was possible to hurt. Not like I’m complaining, but how is someone so petite and so fierce and so painfully powerful? Maybe she is as old as she says. Tommy was released from the hospital yesterday as well. He looks a lot better from how we arrived a week ago.  Unfortunately, he’s one limb less, and the tattoo is completely gone. He’s coping with his loss, and Amelia has not left his side since he was taken to the hospital. As horrible and as f****d up as it sounds that attack brought them much closer together, and I think Amelia revoked the rejection. There’s no point in it anymore. Tommy is a Lycan, and Mel seems unfazed by it. At least they are on the path of their happily ever after no?  Victor has been training with his father. I’ve barely seen him this week and my wolf and Lycan are starting to go through mate withdrawals. It’s so bad today I didn’t even dodge the kick aimed at my jaw, which is now sporting a bad bruise for the rest of the day. Tomorrow night is the full moon, and we’ve all been preparing for the worse.  Lilith also told us that the hunters are getting closer as well, and they might show up tomorrow night as well. If that happens, I don’t know if they will join us in stopping William, or just eradicate us all instead. Fun times…can’t I just have a normal senior year? Whatever happened to just enjoying my life? In a human, non-lycan, not the end of the world fashion? Nope, I will not get that luxury unfortunately.  I sat down on a bench, rubbing my bruised jaw as Lilith sat down next to me. “It’s dangerous to be that distracted right at the end” she chastised me. I sighed, knowing she was right, but also wanting to wallow in self-pity for the day. “It’s been a week Lil…” I started and she chuckled amused. “When was the last time you saw him?” she questioned amused. I shrugged my shoulders, trying to make it seem like I didn’t care about the concept of time. She raised an eyebrow at me, waiting for my answer. I groaned, rubbing my face with my hands before exhaling a breath. “Two days, 4 hours, 40 secs…” I grumbled. Lilith snickered next to me as she patted my shoulder playfully.  “So much for not caring.” She teased. I glared at her for a moment, before realizing I could probably ask her the question that’s been nagging me since I became this weird wolf/lycan combo. “Hey Lilith? Do you know a lot about mate bonds?” I questioned. She tilted her head slightly, eyeing me curiously. “As much as I hope I can help? What’s up?” I sighed, leaning against the bench.  “You see…Vic rejected me before I transformed. I accepted his rejection, and apparently fell into a coma for a couple of days” I stood up, pacing in front of her now. “That was supposed to stop the mate bond from affecting me and causing my transformation, but obviously was too late” I snorted at myself as I began to chew my thumb nail. “So when I ended up with both Calypso and Eris, the bond was still there…we can still feel the mate bond, but Calypso says if Eris disappears, the bond will disappear as well” I rambled before stopping, staring straight at her.  “Am I making sense?” I finally asked. Lilith looked deep in thought before slowly nodding. “So it seems your bond was splitting between Eris and Calypso, and when he rejected you, Calypso was on the forefront, beginning to manifest herself as your wolf. You were still technically human when he rejected you right?” I nodded my head as I sat back down, turning my body to sit facing her.  “The only other person to have both a wolf and lycan was William’s first mate. So there’s not much information on the bond. From what I’ve experienced and seen firsthand is that both counterparts need to be present for the bond to be accepted or rejected. The only thing I can conclude is that you were in the middle of your transformation, so both counterparts were at different points of creation, so the rejection didn’t know which thread to sever.”  “So in other words?” I questioned confused. “In other words the rejection began to sever the wolf bond, but the lycan bond created a band-aid of sorts on the bond, preventing it from fully being severed. Now the lycan’s bond is slowly restoring it. So Calypso was correct in a sense, that if you would have sealed Eris early on, the band aid would’ve been ripped on the bond, and it wouldn’t have restored itself back”  I tried to let the information process in my brain. It all sounds so complicated. “So, in a dumbed down version….the rejection failed because I was mid transformation, and Eris managed to save the bond before it completely severed?” I reiterated to Lilith who simply nodded. “Now it makes what Calypso said” I muttered. Lilith tapped my shoulder lightly, shifting my attention back on her.  “Tomorrow night will be either the end of a tyranny, or the start of a never-ending war. Trust you wolf and lycan, and trust your mate.” She brushed some of my hair away from my neck, poking the spot between my neck and shoulder, causing me to gasp and rub my neck from the prickly feeling. “I know it’s usually a simple notion to mark and mate between wolves, but I strongly suggest that you two at least mark each other before the battle” I covered my marking spot, my eyes bulging out of their sockets at her suggestion.  “But…But…I heard that usually happens…uh…” I stammered, my face turning different shades of red. Lilith laughed at my expense, standing up as she wiped the tears from her eyes from her laughter. “Normally mating and marking go hand in hand” she grinned as my face managed to turn a shade darker. “However…some mates go straight into the marking in order to prevent unmated wolves from trying to stake claim on what belongs to them” she winked at that as she started walking away. “Think about it” she called out.  No I didn’t want to think about it! I rubbed my neck again, feeling nervous and butterflies in my stomach. How can I ask him to mark me just like that? Without commitment? Without a plan? I mean I was human a couple of months ago! Okay yeah I lived here my whole life and know the ins and outs of the mate bond…not like I’m clueless to it, but its Vic we’re talking about…and me! I groaned, closing my eyes and covering my face with my hands. I don’t even know how to bring something like that up?  “Why the frustration?” I’ve never jumped and screamed so hard in my life until that exact moment I heard Victor asking me that question. Where the hell did he come from? “For f***s sakes don’t just sneak up on me like that!” I shouted as I sat back down, patting my chest as my heart was beating erratically. Victor raised an eyebrow at me before sitting down next to me.  “Looks like you need more training if you couldn’t even smell me from a mile away.” I glared at him as I punched his shoulder. “I can smell you far away thank you very much” I snapped, crossing my arms. “I mean how hard is it to distinguish your scent?” I scoffed at him. “I don’t know you tell me. What do I smell like?” he asked me, leaning closer to me as he smirked. I swallowed hard, the proximity making my body feel tingly and weird. ‘Oh the perfect opportunity to mark us’ Calypso yipped in my head. I felt my cheeks heat up at his closeness, and the thought of his lips on my neck were sending alarming singles all over.  I squealed and stood up, trying to put some distance between us. Why was I getting all flustered? This is Lilith’s fault! She shouldn’t have mentioned marking at this point!  “Did something happen?” Victor questioned as he stood up, closing the distance between us, a hunter hunting his prey. “It’s fine…everything’s fine” I ramble. His eyes narrows as he grabs me by the waist, pulling me close to him, his lips smashing against my own.  I couldn’t help the small moan that escaped my lips at the sensation. For some reason the sparks were getting unusually stronger, and I felt as if I were melting into him. We slowly pulled away, trying to catch our breath. “You need to control your thoughts woman… I can smell your…excitement” he whispered into my lips. “Wha…wha…what are you talking about?” I stammered. He smirked, kissing my jaw as he trailed his lips closer to my ear, making a trail down to my neck. I squeaked again, pushing him back as I put my hand on my neck, feeling a nervous wreck with all of my emotions clashing at once.  He chuckled amused at my reaction, tilting his head slightly before sighing. “Seriously though Lina…what’s going on? You’re more nervous than usual?” he asked me. I bit my lower lip slightly, rubbing my neck at the same time. How do I ask him about marking when we’re not even sure what we are yet? What are we exactly? Are we together? Are we not…do we want to go further? I felt a flick on my forehead and rubbed my forehead, glaring at him as he shook his head.  “You keep spacing out” he muttered. “Sorry…just a lot of information I’ve been processing today” I managed to tell him. “Lina, you can trust me you know that right?” I looked at his silver eyes, the blue speckles swirling around, making his gaze more hypnotic. I nodded, while trying to figure out how to just ask him about the mate bond and everything else it entails. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before staring straight at him.  “Have you ever considered marking me?”
