Before now, Denae had thought entering an unfamiliar pack was no big deal, but as she stood at the borders as a rogue, the possibility of being attacked had fear growing in her heart.
“You ready?” Jake asked her.
Denae shook her head, biting her lips. “Not at all…”
“Well, I am…” He grabbed her hand, hauling her across the borders against her will. During the two weeks they’d spent together, they had gotten a lot closer. Despite their situation, they’d joke around and laugh, something that Denae did not do often. Having someone to talk to or rather having a friend was more convenient than Denae ever thought it could be. It was nice, especially since she knew that she could rely on him, but not at this moment. “Jake you litt~let me go, I’m turning back.”
