August's grandma was the former associate justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, Maria Eleanora Tirso Larrañaga. She was in the position and resigned after August's court trial ten years ago. She wasn't the judge for that case then but I believed she stepped down after her grandson didn't get the justice he deserved, which was understanding. And I could only imagine their fury at the jury's verdict. They had someone like her in the family and she had a very decent and remarkable record. Their family was already influential by that time, too. And yet, the justice didn't prevail. It must be very devastating. I never personally met her, and haven't heard about her from any formal gathering. I just remembered her name somewhere, maybe she was mentioned in school or something. Te
