Milena’s POV:
As a general rule, I try not to question Emma’s methods. This isn’t easy to do most of the time— her methods usually involve near death, near murder, or both— but it’s especially difficult when the methods require me to be in the house of the dangerous boss of a criminal organization.
“Why do we need to be here again?” I whisper-shout at Gianna as I follow her through the gates of Matteo’s house.
As usual, there are a bunch of guys I vaguely recognize hanging around the place for reasons I have never fully understood. I get that they’re supposed to be guards of sorts, but they really don’t act like it. They’re relaxed, smoking and talking together, eating— one of them’s getting out of a car with a ton of Starbucks drinks in hand.
