The test sat on the table between them like a secret that could detonate the world. Two pink lines. Positive. No denying it now. Sabrina kept her eyes fixed on her teacup, fingers trembling lightly as she stirred, though there was nothing left to dissolve.
Across from her, Gina blinked slowly, lips parted, trying—and failing—to hide her shock.
“You’re pregnant?” she asked softly, breaking the silence.
Sabrina nodded without lifting her gaze.
“And it’s Brace’s?”
She looked at her friend with the ' are you kidding me? look. Then another nod.
Gina exhaled, hands dropping into her lap. “Sab…”
“I didn’t plan this,” Sabrina whispered. “Of course I didn’t. I’ve been careful. But things were chaotic… I wasn’t tracking anything. Then Mom died and everything just… stopped.”
