I cleared my throat, trying to maintain a sense of composure. "Luke, we're in public," I reminded him gently, my gaze darting around the bustling café filled with chatter and laughter. "I promise I'll explain everything to you when we're alone," I added, my voice softening as I noticed the way he continued to glower at me. "Please," I urged, hoping to diffuse the tension between us.
With a frustrated sigh, Luke averted his eyes and exhaled sharply. "Fine. I’ll let this go for now, but you’re going to fill me in on everything once we’re done with Charlie for today."
I nodded vigorously, relief washing over me. "Yes, I will. But for now, just relax a bit. The staff here are probably wondering whether they should escort you out," I teased lightly, attempting to lighten the mood.
