“Joshua,” Melanie’s voice was a breathy whisper. Josh reached to turn on the bedside light, but thought better of it. He’d woken in time to see Melanie’s unmistakable silhouette slipping in the door, but not soon enough to be sure she was clothed. He was instantly sober.
