“I can’t see,” I said, gripping his hand. “Where are we?” I shouted over the noise.
“Just wait. You’ll see,” William shouted back in my ear.
I could hear people talking and shouting above the noise. It sounded like we were in an airfield or something. I wished William would let me take off the blindfold. I was eager to see where he’d brought me.
“Can I see now?” I yelled into his ear.
“Not yet. Hold on for one moment.” He pulled me to a stop and turned me around. “Have you ever seen a live shuttle launch?”
I shook my head. “No. Never. I’ve watched them on TV.”
