I tried to see his face through my blurred vision. His voice sounded like he was choking. I thought I saw the shimmer of tears in his eyes. But they’d kicked me in the head. And my vision wasn’t too clear. “William?” It was all I could manage. “Don’t talk. I’m going to get you to the hospital.” He pulled out his phone and I drifted in and out, trying to follow his words. “Yeah, Diane?” Who the heck was Diane? “It’s William. Look, I’ve got an emergency.
