I lifted my heavy eyelids open only to close them again as the harsh sunlight hit my face. I used my hands to avoid it. I brushed the drowsiness off my eyes with my knuckles and used my arms as leverage on the bed. My mind was in a daze but as I got to gather bits of what happened. Limping, I fell back down the bed. I stared blankly at the ceiling. Surely, it’s just a dream. But how sure am I? We often mistake reality as dreams and dreams as reality. But there’s no way we could exchange the two. Dreams and reality don’t work that way. Especially nightmares. Slowly, as if I don’t really want to find out the truth, my head moved to the side. There’s no one around.
